I can count the amount of matches on one hand that I’ve seen in my lifetime where the referee’s final whistle put me out of misery – or boredom; a home match against Norwich on a very windy day in the 80’s was one – this was another.
Losing to Liverpool is never a pleasant experience of course, and perhaps the “boring” label above, whilst true also deserves some justification from the Dalglish angle; Liverpool have been in the infirmary for some time with an honourable but unfortunate Hodgson unable to prevent the constant haemorrhaging – Dalglish has at least, it would appear, stopped the bleeding and the patient is even beginning to walk about a bit.
His team were well drilled and organised, and once a goal up there was no way a clueless Chelsea were going to be allowed to open healing wounds. Their win was deserved and though they were uninspiring, we were just AWFUL.
The Bus
The red formation was very defensive of course and 3 in the centre of their rear guard and a packed midfield meant the Ancelotti diamond 4, 2 up front, had great difficulty in getting anywhere near breaching the dam. Cole and Bosingwa, normally relied upon to get wide and behind the opposition defence in these situations, were constantly blocked (well, I say blocked, but most of the time our passing was so awry that Liverpool didn’t have to be that attentive anyway).
Kasperov!
The first half was chess-like, with only Gerrard and Anelka looking like they realised there was a game on. The “highlights” consisted off Rodriguez somehow missing an easy chance and an end of half spat between Ivanovic and Cech over clearing or not clearing a ball (Cech was at fault – he should command his box and should realise that once the Serb had the ball under control, he could hardly let him pick it up).

Torres was taken off just after the hour although in truth he was no better nor poorer than his new team-mates (and politically I’m not so sure it was a wise decision on Ancelotti’s part). His contribution consisted of our only shot on target but both he and Drogba would have received better service down the local greasy spoon.
Keystone Cop Defence
The inevitable soon occurred in the 69th minute when a rare Liverpool attack resulted in Cech and Ivanovic starring at each other whilst the cross ball passed between them - the consequential free ball was gratefully hooked home by Meireles in front of the ecstatic away support.
Was that it?
Not much happened after that. We did have a couple of penalty shouts but I was too high up to see enough detail, and although I’m told one of them was nailed on, I have been unable to put myself through watching the Sky highlights.
The most “entertaining” (if you can call it that) part of the afternoon was perhaps the away fans throwing their Torres Liverpool shirts on to the pitch in protest followed by a chant of “Chelsea Rent Boy!” (Good to see that the self-proclaimed dignified and classy fans didn’t disappoint). Our lot responded in the 2nd half with a “You ffffing idiots, you burn your own shirts!”
One positive though - Luiz looked like he had been playing for us for years when he came on late in the 2nd half.

Could maybe the FA have a role to play here? I've noticed an increasing trend this season for opponents to try and stifle our play and do everything they possibly can to prevent us playing flowing attacking football. Not only does this stop us scoring as many goals as we might, but it can often spoil the spectacle.
For the sake of the Premier League I believe we need to look at rule changes or something to stop opponents flying around like idiots. The creative talents that can make this the beautiful game need space to express their art.

Didn't think Liverpool were boring, they were still pushing men forward and going for the second late on. They turned up and played you in a way that made your (slightly odd) formation look clueless - no way that Anelka can play there. Dalglish won't play that formation every week, but he got it spot on. And to think he was supposed to be out of touch with the modern game!

I find it incredible that you label Liverpool boring!!! Liverpool knocked the ball around like Brazil at times and the only boring side were Chelsea, who as you seem to agree were clueless. Liverpool's goal was the result of a 13 pass move. Hardly, the kick-rush mentality and tactics of the "honourable" Hodgson. I find it incredible that anyone has a good word to say about Hodgson - the man was rude to the fans, slagged off the squad he inherited and tried his utmost to turn Liverpool FC into relegation contenders. Under Dalglish, Liverpool have become, strong, tough, efficient and are knocking the ball about like the 80s team that was the envy of all of Europe. Even Chelsea's strongest side were ineffective at home against a team and squad written off for years! Just shows all you so-called "experts" that a team who have the right tactics and team work and guile marshalled by a genius of a manager can make a so-called "top" side look very very ordinary! LFC should have been quaking in their boots facing Torres, Drogba and Anelka, instead they looked like pub-team players!! But Chelsea fans don't be too despondent - just wait till we get United at Anfield - WE WILL SLAUGHTER THEM!! So it is not all bad!!

3 central defenders and attacking wingbacks, 1 holding and 3 free midfielders and a tireless target man. Kelly and Johnson consistantly getting round the back. Without shackles but in a disciplined way. Thats dull dull dull.

And Liverpool didn't even have their £57 million (or should that be Roman's £50 plus Babel?) on the pich

come on,boring,dont think so. organised yes,up for it yes,passionate yes,a team who in everyones opinion would be happy with a top half finnish 4 weeks ago. totally transformed by the genius who is kenny dalgleish,who totally loves the club,city,people of liverpool who in turn idolise him. were on our way back up because were all in it together and have no mercenaries any longer at the club.the smiles are back,were enjoying it again,can chelsea say the same.must be a real boost to hear torres saying that the kit is just a uniform,really inspiring stuff.maybe he and chelsea belong together,both just about the money....

How bitter can you get? Face the facts, Liverpool were the away side and had all the decent chances. Reina didn't have to make one save. Chelsea were playing against the same players Hodgson used last month, who were there for the taking.
Chelsea really are a side of pensioners, they can't hack the pace. Unless the oil money buys a new site, expect to be upper mid-table in the coming seasons.

Typical Chelsea. They build you up for the wonderful roller-coaster ride with the signings of Torres and Luiz and then you crash down as the roller-coaster loses its brakes at the top of the summit and you come plunging down and your belly gets ripped out with the emotion of it all.
Cech and Ivanovic's spat in the first-half summed it all up for me.
Cech still cant call 'KEEPER' and it isn't the first time this season (Aston Villa is still raw)
And then Liverpool's winner - Branny and Cech again FFS - cant either of them shout it KEEPER in English, Serb or Cech Republic and what made it worse they scored at the murderers end who turned out to be truly bin-dipping @#$%& when at the end of the game, some of the bin-dippers spat at our Chelsea Pensioners, ripped out seats and then looked for a row making their way back to Earls Court.
