Man Utd 2-1 Chelsea: Ancelotti: Champ to Chump Inside A Year

Let's be honest. Chelsea's problems this season haven't all been Ancelotti's fault. But last night at Old Trafford he caused a few problems for himself by playing Torres without Benayoun and then (sort of) admitting he should have started Drogba ahead of the £50m man.You can't play Torres up on his own without playing to his strengths.

Now unless I am completely stupid or bereft of a brain, Torres needs service to his feet on his right, once that combination works, let the man do his work.

His record as a striker proves that (before he came to Chelsea that is)

When Torres came on against Wigan last Saturday, Benayoun was on the pitch and Benayoun knew exactly how to play Torres.

Torres' problem was Al-Habsei was on very good form.

There you go Ancelotti.

Play Torres and Benayoun together.

Simple.

Or tell the rest of the idiots on the same pitch that Torres is not a miracle worker

But obviously not.

Ancelotti decides to go with Torres alone up front but it appears he forgot to tell the rest of the team to service him, like down the middle on his right side etc etc etc, blah blah blah.

Like the first leg, Chelsea had most of the possession and a fair few chances - Anelka twice, Torres with header and Super Frank with a weak shot that Van der Sar saved, low down.

Like in the first leg, Utd didn't need to create many chances to secure their advantage.

Hernandez banged one in right on half-time, previously he had a goal disallowed, close encounters, the goal that stood looked marginally offside to the one he had disallowed.

Fifteen minutes from the end, Didier gave Chelsea hope with a well-taken equaliser then Chelsea committed the cardinal sin - within seconds of the re-start, Park put the tie beyond doubt when he put Utd 2-1 up on the night - 3-1 on aggregate.

Game over. Job done for Utd, back to the drawing board for Chelsea.

There was no UEFA corruption. The Portuguese referee, Mr Olegario Benquerenca was very strong and very fair, a 1st for Chelsea in the knockout stages of the 'Corrupt Cup' over the last two years.

As for Mr A's 'obsession' about winning the 'Corrupt Cup,' perhaps Sir Alex had a point.
