Newcastle Preview: Champion Reserves

So here we are. The last home game of the season. My doesn't time fly especially when you are having fun. The start was fantastic, the middle was extremely poor and the end, apart from last weekend, has been truly remarkable - a wonderful recovery. If Chelsea can cement 2nd place.

I was away when Chelsea played at Old Trafford last weekend. By all accounts we didn't exactly cover ourselves in glory.

I didn't watch the game as there were a load of Mancs staying at the same place (just my luck) and seeing them falling all over each other in the evening, it was probably just as well.

I would have been heavily outnumbered just like Hugh Dennis in the TV show.

I have seen the goals though.

Basic schoolboy defending from world class players. David Luiz in particular.

Luiz has certainly had a roller-coaster ride since he joined in January. A couple of goals, conceding penalties, player of the month and a serious mistake inside 30 seconds in a crucial title-deciding match.

Luiz wasn't entirely to blame, he was just the catalyst for Chelsea's poor away-day.

There is cause for some celebration though.

Last Monday, the reserves clinched the Barclays League Premier Reserve South title with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Wolves and tomorrow the reserves play Blackburn Rovers for the right to lift the national trophy.

The game is being played at Stamford Bridge, kick-off 7pm and there will be LIVE updates on the message board.
