Chelsea 2-0 B Leverkusen: CSG Calls for Genk Fans Boycott

It was interesting to read that the Chelsea Supporters Group (CSG) has called for a fans boycott of the Corrupt Cup Group game against Genk at Stamford Bridge next month, because Chelsea, this season have raised the prices of admission during the group stage matches. Seems to me people have been spolit as Chelsea for the previous few seasons HAD reduced prices to £25 for anywhere in the stadium.
Michelle Shaw, vice-Chair of CSG said, “Not only am I boycotting Genk, I am also boycotting Leverkusen and Valencia. The only way to send a message to the club is by a low attendance at the Genk game.”
After looking through the CSG’s website I couldn’t find Michelle’s comments and there was only a fleeting mention of the suggested ‘boycott’ in another article.
As I haven’t shelled out for a ‘Corrupt Game’ since that infamous night against UEFA’s favourite team Barcelona back in May 2009, I shall continue my own ‘boycott’ of the ‘Corrupt Cup’ until either Chelsea win the bloody damm thing or Snail Face Platini is removed from office.
As for the game itself.
Michael Ballack was afforded a warm welcome home and Bruce Buck presented him with a silver salver and it could have got a lot better for Ballack had captain for the night, Petr Cech not saved well from Ballack’s stabbed shot when clean through.
With the changes that AvB made (no Terry, Lampard on the bench, Drogba still out with concussion), the stage was set for Torres to benefit from the service Mata and Sturridge could provide.
Torres was unlucky in the opening minutes to have a goal disallowed with a Sturridge-esque flick and Chelsea were lucky that Bayer had a goal disallowed, for what offence, is confusing.
Certainly the decision wasn’t for offside.
Although Torres was goal-less again, his overall contribution gave Chelsea the edge and it was Torres who set up David Luiz for Chelsea’s 1st and then unselfishly squared to Mata for an easy 2nd goal.
Once Luiz set-off from inside Chelsea’s half, you knew something special was going to happen.
Luiz played the ball out to Torres who then returned to Luiz who then whipped in a low curling shot past the impressive 19 year old ‘keeper Leno into the left hand corner of the net.

Luiz, Meirleles, Mata all stood out and Sturridge showed his exhuberance and flair again (hopefully this will never convert into selfishness)...
Torres did well and deserved that goal....2 nice set-ups as well.
