One win in six against Utd for Chelsea after yesterday's crazy, compelling, entertaining and end to end game at Old Trafford. Utd are Champions and five points clear of Chelsea at the top of the league because they score goals with premium economy and they get a little help from the blind assistant on the far side of the field.
On another day, two of United's goals, may have been disallowed elsewhere in the country (cough, cough), but this is Old Trafford, home of the Champions, where NO official wants to upset SAF.
Both goals had elements of offside.
Smalling's header for the first and Nani running back onside, before he picked up the ball to crack in a 25 yarder after Chelsea's defence backed off and backed off.
Utd's third before half-time had an air of slapstick.
JT tried to clear under pressure, but the ball hit Nani and fell right into the path of Rooney who swept home.
The slapstick continued in the 2nd half when Rooney slipped JT style putting his penalty-kick well wide of the post.
I haven't seen any DANGER SLIPPERY signs, so far today!!!
Having said all of that.
Had Chelsea taken a few of the numerous chances they created, the 'offside' goals would not have got a mentioned, because Chelsea would have been flying back to London with three points safely tucked in the bag.
Ramires (twice), Torres (I hate to mention it) should have helped himself to a hat-trick, but the wonderful goal that he scored straight after half-time was easier to miss than the open goal which he did, after doing the hard work in rounding De Gea.
If Utd fans were nervous when SAF announced early that De Gea would return between the sticks, those nerves would have died once De Gea brilliantly saved from Ramires, diving from nowhere to block the ball, after Torres unselfishly set-up the Brazilian.
Chelsea's schoolboy defending is becoming a worrying trend that needs to be resolved as soon as possible and the fact the Chelsea 'can't score in a brothel' when dominating the chance count, IS something Chelsea fans have really got used to!!!!

Blind officials do not count either, you have had your fair share of ref decisions going your way, be big enough to admit it
The bottom line is United have a knack of winning....sometimes when not playing as well as they can, that is why we have won the Prem 12 times in what18-19 yrs.
Chelsea are an old team in the sense that Lampard, Terry, Drogba, Anelka, and a few others, soon Cole.....are probably past their best. Mata was a great buy, but there is way more work to be done your end than at United....

pps Very few United fans are worried about De Gea, he's a good keeper, and will make the odd mistake....we haven;t exactly dropped points because of it yet..
And Fergie, I have always had respect for you. But for the past three seasons, you've made whining Wenger seem like a saint.
Such fine margins - Torres could have had a hat-trick yet came up looking like the donkey in the eyes of the press. VERY encouraging signs from him in my opinion. He is setting up goals and looks like just 1-2 more goals and he'd be off on a run.
