Valencia 1-1 Chelsea:Unprofessional Kalou Lets Everyone Down

I am still at a lost as to why Salomon Kalou tried to lead with his hand as he attempted to challenge for a header in the closing stages of the 'Corrupt Cup' Group E game in the Mestalla on Wednesday night which led to Valencia's penalty equaliser. Maybe he is secretly training for the javelin to represent Ivory Coast at London 2012?!?!

I am also at a lost as to why AvB decided to Kalou on for Super Frank instead of say either Romeu, Ivanovic or even Drogba (probably the best defending centre-forward in the world).

AvB said after the game, to justify his decision, "It was the right choice considering Valencia were going down the left side and were having one-on-ones with Bosingwa. (Hmm!! Couldn't Ivanovic come on to replace Bosingwa instead?)

"Kalou could use his pace and come out with the ball.

"And it was Kalou who put Anelka one-on-one with the keeper at the end."

As for Valencia's 'keeper Alves, playing his first Corrupt Cup game for Valencia, he was simply outstanding pulling off save after save in the first ten minutes of the second-half.

The pick of the bunch was his brilliant diving save to his left to get a hand on Torres' powerful header from a Bosingwa cross and then denying Torres again getting his body in the way of Torres' close range volley.

Alves saved from Ramires, then from his own defender Ruiz.

Petr Cech was also busy saving from Piatti twice, Fegholi and Jonas who forced the giant Czech to dive full length to his left to tip the shot around the post.

Super Frank, in the news recently for perhaps wrong and untrue reasons (storming off from the bench during the 4-1 Swansea victory), swept a low volley into the net from a Malouda cross from Chelsea's right.
