Despite Dalglish's moans and groans about having to play two games within 48 hours, last night at The Bridge, Liverpool were the better side and thoroughly deserved to win. Citeh's Mancini bemoaned the same as Dalglish prior to their game and it seems 'moaning' had the desired effect. Citeh won too!!
Perhaps AvB should start 'moaning'!! Oh he did after the QPR game for the first time as a Premier League manager and got fined £12,000.
Surely being critical of the authorities and referees are the same?
But this is Chelsea, everyone else, can get away with it!
Chelsea were never at the races last night.
The action started as early as the third minute when it appeared that David Luiz was brought down inside the area and instead of getting a penalty, referee Phil Dowd booked Luiz for his efforts.
Cynical as I am, Luiz's performance appeared to me to 'I really don't want to be here' and minutes later Luiz looked to have pushed Carroll in the back and the big man went tumbling.
Dowd evened up the score but didn't show Carroll a yellow card, but later on in the first-half, Dowd had no option to award Liverpool a penalty when Alex handled inside the area. Up stepped Carroll only to see Turnbull make the save.
I have to be honest, Luiz is really getting on my nerves.
He can't play centre-back, he can't defend and he gives away to many free-kicks and penalties. Why oh why AvB perserveres with him is really beyond my stretch of the imagination.
When you look at the expressions on Luiz face, he looks like he is five cans short of a six-pack and that there is nothing between his ears and under his Sideshow Bob hair.
AvB made changes bringing in Betrand, Romeu, Lukaku, Torres and McEachran and I felt the 'reputations' let all of them down.
Josh only lasted 40 minutes before hobbling off to be replaced by Ramires and Josh was seen later with a protective cast around his foot.
I can't see the point of playing Torres if he isn't going to get the service, although later in the second-half he did force Reina into a fine save from a headed chance.
What chance has the bloke got when he has to come all the way back into defence to have a touch of ball?
I am really beginning to think that AvB is out of his depth. Ok he got off to a flyer at the start of the season, but with FIVE defeats in nine and THREE defeats in the last four at home, Chelsea's stock is slowly diminishing.
Maxi scored Liverpool's first (his 2nd at The Bridge in ten days) and Martin Kelly scored the second and both goals were created by Craig Bellamy, clearly affected by the death of Gary Speed, but his performance was simply outstanding and he always seems to save his best when he plays against us.
St James' Park (sod Sports Direct) is always a difficult stadium to visit, but the Blues will have to resist 50,000 Geordies riding on the tide of emotion, mourning one of their own.
