A tough, difficult and emotional day awaits The Blues as they travel to fourth place Newcastle at St James' Park this lunchtime. A tough day for the travelling Blue faithful - a very early start to accommodate the whims, desires and wishes of TV. Normally you would be able to hear the Blue hordes, but today with 50,00 Barcodes expressing their emotion for Gary Speed, the faithful's support maybe reduced to a whimper.
It is the first time the Barcodes have been able to show their appreciation for Gary Speed and before the game a minute's applause will ring round St James' Park.
Gary Speed played for Newcastle between 1998 and 2004, making a total of 284 appearances and scoring 40 goals. His career playing appearances totalled 840 and his goal scoring ration of about 1 in 5 yielded 134 goals.
Chelsea are having a difficult time. Five defeats in nine, progressive suggestions that AvB is going to get sacked anytime, JT under a cloud with the race issue hanging over his head and a team that 'looks' like they do not want to play together.
Other than Joshi's soft tissue ankle injury picked in the midweek Carling Cup defeat and long-term absentee Michael Essien who has returned to training, Chelsea do not have any other injury worries.
