Chelsea FC Confirm Bid for Battersea Power Station

Completely out of the Blue (excuse the ‘pun) and on the eve of the 2012 FA Cup Final, Chelsea Football Club announced today, a formal bid to purchase the land housing Battersea Power station to build a 60,000 seater stadium and reports suggest that Chelsea plan to build the new stadium around the iconic towers.
This is ONLY a bid. There are NO plans to relocate to the other side of the River Thames and to a brand new Borough of London (Wandsworth).
There are many, many obstacles to overcome.
The major obstacle that Chelsea Football Club has to overcome is to convince the CPO shareholders to sell their shares, therefore allowing the club to progress the move further.
Chelsea Football Club formal statement reads as follows:
‘We are not the only interested parties and there is no certainty that we will be successful.
‘We also appreciate that we have many significant hurdles to address if we are to build a new stadium on the site, including winning the support of our fans, the CPO shareholders and local Wandsworth residents, as well as securing the approval of Wandsworth Council, the Greater London Authority and heritage authorities.'

Still, I would have trouble walking down the Fulham Rd past where the Bridge was and seeing god knows what their...would break my heart.
