The brick from Peckham, controlled by brother brick residing in Manchester kept to his word and refused to shake our Captain, Leader, Legend JTs hand AND our Ashley Cole before kick-off at Loftus Road yesterday afternoon. QPR’s captain, Park Ji Sung ALSO refused to shake JT’s hand not once but twice when the two captains faced each other in the centre circle.
What was more sickening than the actual snub of JT, the brick, in his eagerness to get past JT as fast as he could, pushed the little boy in front of him in a manner that nearly sent the poor little kid sprawling.
What message does that send out to the kid? A few days earlier that kid learned all about sportsmanship by the 1000s of Olympians at 2012 and on probably the best day of his young life he gets shoved out of the way by the playground bully.
There is no doubt the brick disrespected the FA’s respect campaign in front of the watching David Bernstein, Chairman of the FA, and I hope he and his minions can find a charge in the rule book to deal with the brick.
This after both clubs HAD been told to respect the FA’s campaign.
As for the game itself, it was a non event, a non-entity.
A team in Manchester gets a penalty for a clear dive, Chelsea were denied two when JT was bundled over WWE style by Ryan Nelsen and Eden Hazard was clearly tripped inside the box.
Bobby Di was philosophical in his post match assessment when he said, “The one with JT and Nelsen looked a stonewall penalty to me. I have watched the replay. I know the ref doesn’t have the replay and I don’t know if he didn’t see it or saw it and didn’t think it was.
“The one on Hazard he was in a good position for and there was some contact but maybe he didn’t think it was enough. It is a difficult job to be a referee. It is easy for us because we have the replays.”
With the defence of our Champions League crown beginning on Wednesday night against Juventus at The Bridge, Chelsea really have to play much better.
