Big Ears Cup – FC Nordsjaelland Preview

There can be no room for complacency tonight. Yes, I know…a bit cliché but probably true. There is no disgrace in drawing against a big side like Juventus at home of course, but any slip up in Denmark leaving us with just a few points after 2 games could put us under a lot of pressure for the next game.
Last season I said it would be typical of us to win the “Corrupt Cup” with our weakest side in years. There was a bit of tongue in cheek in those words of course, but guess what? I can’t help thinking we could win it again this season and be the first club to defend the trophy successfully (and then not win it again for Donkeys years!). Sure, bit of a rash statement but…just a feeling. But this prediction could all come crashing down if we get too complacent in the group stage.

Full Strength
Di Matteo says we are going to field a strong side. Torres should start again and hopefully this long run of games he’s getting, with an injured Sturridge still not available to challenge for the position, should build his confidence even further. Lampard has got to be on the pitch after being rested for the Arsenal game, Mikel possibly rested for Romeu (?) and I wouldn’t be surprised if the tireless Mata is brought off for Bertrand should we be comfortably ahead just after half-time.
Europes Swansea?
The recently formed (or should I say merged) Nordsjaelland apparently play expansive football with a strong emphasis on possession. This would mean we would have to score early so that they open up more and maybe lose their discipline a little. The Danish crowd probably aren’t as vocal as their Norwegian cousins but we all came from the same pot historically - so we can expect them to be loud at the beginning of the match at least.
Come on Chels!
