Disappointing Mid-week European Loss and Lampard Crocked

A perhaps, unexpected loss on Tuesday although we knew it wasn’t going to be easy.  The ever-increasingly slick passing we have witnessed in recent weeks looked ragged at the edges and penetration in the final third was almost non-existent. 

There was a touch of silver lining on the cloud that descended over us in the Ukraine though – Nordsjaelland held Juventus leaving us in 2^nd place in the group.  A win at home to Shakhtar would put us back on top.

Credit where it's due 

We mustn’t take credit away from Shakhtar.  They played exceptionally well and displayed plenty of attacking options.  The return match at Stamford Bridge will be very interesting – was their performance at home to us a one-off?

 

 

Lamps crocked

The great Lampard mystery seems to be revealed.  Our longest-serving midfielder has been suffering from an ankle knock and this gave way on Tuesday.  How long will he be out for is another question.

Still…. Heads up….Big game on Sunday.
