Man City FA Cup Semi-Final Preview: We ARE Due A Win

Including this season’s Community Shield under the tenureship of Robbie Di Matteo, City have had the stranglehold over Chelsea, winning 6 of the last 10 meetings. Chelsea have won 3 and the other, Fatty’s first game in charge, back in November ended in a stale 0-0 draw. HAS HE REALLY BEEN IN CHARGE FOR NEARLY FIVE MONTHS?
The last time the two sides met in the FA Cup was in 1971, when Chelsea as FA Cup holders (no omens…. please) crashed out at Stamford Bridge, 3-0 with City goals from Colin Bell (2) and Ian Bowyer.
The most spectacular and amazing game between the two sides was at Wembley in the Full Members Cup Final in 1986.
Chelsea were 5-1 up with about ten minutes to go, in front of a near 70,000 crowd, only to see the score whittle down to 5-4 at the final whistle, in an extremely nervy and frantic finale.
Chelsea simply cannot defend as they did against Rubin Kazan in Russia on Thursday night otherwise City will tear us apart with the likes of Aguero, Silva (if fit) and Tevez.
Allow Toure to dominate and win the midfield battle and Chelsea will be in for a torrid time.
It is widespread news/rumour that Fatty is preparing to drop ‘Captain, Leader, Legend, One England Captain,’ JT and Super Frankie ‘200 goal’ Lampard from the starting line-up and without undoubtedly ‘The King of Wembley’ Didier Drogba, Chelsea will be completely different from the Wembley dominating force that has seen the club win the FA Cup FOUR times in the last six seasons.
Seven changes were made on Thursday night and there will be a similar amount made this afternoon. Returning should be Ivanovic, Oscar, Mata, Hazard, Ba in for Torres, Bertrand (if recovered from illness) for Ferreira, despite his professional and committed performance on the plastic pitch and Mikel in for Super Frankie '200 goal' Lampard.
As Fatty appears to be on a mission to melt-down Chelsea’s Champions League ambitions, his pre-match rhetoric included the following.
He said, “We know it’ll be difficult, but it’s a semi-final in a massive competition.
“We know what we did wrong against them in the League and we’ll make sure we don’t make the same mistakes.”
(Like missing a penalty and failing to score in both games. Can’t get bigger mistakes than that…. Ed)
“They’re a good team, a strong squad. They have a manager with experience. We know we’ll have to do our best if we want to progress.”
