Arjen Robben just back from a broken foot injury, was injured today whilst playing for Holland against Romania in Bucharest this afternoon.
Robben injured his calf in the twenty-first minute after falling awkwardly whilst jumping with Romania's goalkeeper Bogdan Lobont. Dutch coach Marco Van Basten has already ruled Robben out of Holland's next game against Armenia and although at the time of writing the extent of the injury is not fully known, Van Basten fears that Robben could be out of football for a lengthy period. Here's hoping Arjen's injury is not so serious. Better news for Chelsea's English trio of John Terry, Joe Cole and Frank Lampard. All three started and finished the game against Northern Ireland at Old Trafford this afternoon as England swiped the Irish 4-0 with all the goals coming in a seventeen minute blitz during the second half. Brucey bonus time this afternoon as both Joe Cole and Frank Lampard found themselves on the scoresheet. The other two England goals came from Michael Owen and an own goal from Southamption's Chris Baird after a strong, bustling, determined run from Man Utd's Wayne Rooney. John Terry produced another immaculate performance in the heart of England's defence. JT may not have the pace of either Campbell and Ferdinand but he has the hearts of the English Three Lions and will no doubt one day become England Captain. JT led the defence consisting of himself, Ferdinand, G Neville and Ashley Cole as if he was already England's Captain. An early first half header went just over the bar and had it gone in, a hat-trick of Chelsea goalscorers for their country would have been fully justified. SGE has a real hard decision to make once Arsenal's Sol Campbell regains full fitness.
