Wayne Rooney was crowned Young PFA Player of the Year and if there was an immediate award for Goal of the Season Rooney would have collected that as well for his sensational goal against Newcastle at Old Trafford yesterday afternoon.

Chelsea today signed a new shirt sponsorship deal reportedly worth £50m with electronic giants Samsung.

In a veiled swipe at Chelsea's critics, Chelsea's American chairman said "People in glass houses should not throw stones. Others have taken the high road criticising our behaviour. But we think it is a little untrustworthy that some people have criticised us. We don't have the worst red-card record in the history of football. We haven't thrown pizzas in the dressing room. I reject the whiter-than-white that is coming from certain quarters." Buck went on to say, "When you are on top everyone wants to knock you over, but it people are sniping at you unfairly I don't think you should just roll over and let them do that."

Chelsea have admitted that if the season is re-run there would be certain things and areas that would be done differently and Buck closed by saying, "But we DO feel we recognise our responsibility to football and we are NOT arrogant about the rules."

John Terry said on receiving his PFA award "It is unbelieveable and the ultimate accolade to be voted for by your fellow professionals whom you play against week-in and week-out. We have got the Champions League semi-final coming up against Liverpool and are just one win away from the Premiership, so hopefully I am going to be lifting a few more trophies. For Petr, Lamps and myself to be voted in, it was important that one of us won it. It has been a real special season with Chelsea and this just adds to it. I want to thank all of my team-mates. It is my first year as captain and they have helped me a lot, on and off the pitch."
