Captain John Terry Supports the Kids

The Academy's on a roll. After beating Charlton away 2-0 last week, this morning it was Norwich City's turn to fall at Cobham and now Chelsea are joint second of the Academy group with Norwich this evening.

Chelsea won with a goal from Scott Sinclair, scored fifteen minutes from time when he was fed through after fine work from James Simmonds. A delighted coach, Brendan Rodgers said "It was a game we could have had control of, Scott had two good chances before he scored, but great credit to him, he kept showing and he took his goal exceptionally well."

Rodgers continued, "Yet again it was a very, very good performance. A lot of their players were involved in the midweek reserve game against us. We’ve now had three clean sheets in a row. The only disappointment today was that we conceded out first shot on target in four games! That’s an outstanding statistic for young players who normally at this age make a lot of mistakes."

Chelsea captain John Terry even took time out after first team training to go and support the youngsters.

Rodgers said, "Another great moment was when John Terry finished training with the first team and jumped the fence to come and watch and support. It’s such a stimulation to our players to have the captain taking an interest."
