On Chelsea TV this evening Jose Mourinho announced that Michael Essien will NOT travel to the African Cup of Nations until he is fully fit.
Jose said "Essien I think is not going. To do treatment is better to stay with Chelsea. He would be going for nothing." Reading between the lines, Essien's injury at West Ham yesterday, seems to have ruled him out in competing with his country, Ghana. Jose said about Drogba. "Drogba goes after Huddersfield. They (Ivory Coast) don't let him stay but I don't let him go before he has to go, so he goes on the 7th after the Huddersfield game." One player that Jose has let go early is Geremi. Jose said "Geremi goes today (Monday). I have a great relation with Arturo, his manager who is Portuguese. Geri deserves to go now. They didn't qualify for the World Cup. The African Cup is very important for him. I could keep him for the Huddersfield game but I'm going to play Glen Johnson and Paulo, so I don't need him. I let him go today."(Monday). Although the interview was shown on Chelsea TV this evening, this interview was recorded after the game at West Ham yesterday. Keep Up to Date on the Message Board on the players progress. 40 YEARS A BLUE!
