'Men Against Boys'

Mick McGiven described this game as 'Men Against Boys' in his post match assessment and despite the scoreline he was relatively pleased with the overall performance of his young Chelsea charges.

Charlton traditionally play a mixture of 1st teamers in reserve matches and tonight was no exception. Two of Charlton's goalscorers Euell and Lisbie were the proof in the pudding. Other Charlton 1st teamers were Perry, Kiely, Bothroyd and Jerome Thomas.

Charlton goals came from a Sankofa tap-in from a difficult to defend free-kick, Euell headed in Charlton's second from a Bothroyd cross and the third was scored from Lisbie shooting between Pidgeley's legs.

There were some positive performances. Michael Mancienne and Adrian Pettigrew performed well against Charlton's more experienced front-line, Filipe Morais who was on the bench for the Huddersfield cup-tie, teased and tormented down Charlton's left. James Simmonds looks a prospect in midfield and captain Danny Hollands looks like a natural leader in the mould of Super JT.

The reserves now have a month's break when their next game is against Watford on Monday 6th February at The Rec, Aldershot Town FC, kick-off 7pm.
