Dean Furman Scouted by Celtic

The Academy travelled to Birmingham on Saturday and beat the Academy of Aston Villa, coached by ex- Chelsea midfielder Tony McAndrew, 3-0 and recorded their sixth win out of six and their fifth clean sheet from the same group of games.

Again due to Scott Sinclair's promotion to the Reserves, the Academy won without his services. Icon winner Sam Hurrell made his seventh appearance before being substituted by youngster Tomi Saarelma.

This weekend must have been the weekend of friendship and mutual respect nothwithstanding Chris Coleman and Jose Mourinho but as Academy coach Brendan Rodgers reveals, between him and Tony McAndrew. Rodgers said "Tony McAndrew is a coach I respect, and he told me before the game that this was the best Aston Villa group he’s worked with, and that included the Steve Davis, Luke Moore group of five or so years ago. Then at the end he said our boys had been too good for them."

Sam Hurrell had a chance to put Chelsea one-up, but sliced his chance wide. It took good work by Ferreira to put a ball through for Fernandes to open the scoring. Once Chelsea took the lead they took control.

It wasn't until midway through the second half that Chelsea doubled their lead when Dean Furman, under scrutiny from Celtic side-footed in from a cross from Shaun Cummings. Chelsea's third came right on full-time when Jack Watkins finished close in.
