Brum First Win in Fourteen Games!

As the first team had a frustrating lunchtime meeting with Birmingham City at St Andrews on Saturday, the Academy's adventures against the Youth of Birmingham was even worse as the Academy went down at Cobham 1-0.

It was the Academy's first defeat in eight games and had the boys won, they would have gone top of their group as the leaders Southampton, lost to Reading 2-1.

Birmingham's win was their first in 14 games. Quite mirrors Birmingham's first team's fortunes. Birmingham's winner came midway through the first-half.

The Academy fielded a young side as the following players were on International duty their respective U17s. Scott Sinclair, Jack Cork and Ryan Betrand were with England and Ricardo Fernandes and Fabio Ferreira were away with Portugal and the latter two didn't arrive back until Friday.

Coach Brendan Rodgers was left feeling a tad frustrated. He said "Sam Hurrell was through one on one and the goalkeeper made a good save. Shaun Cummings did everything but score, Michael Woods had a good chance.

"The performance was not as fluent as it has been, but we had enough chances to score. It was a frustrating day."
