Dean Furman Signs for Glasgow Rangers

Not too long ago I wrote an article saying the Chelsea Academy youngster Dean Furman was being scouted by Scottish giants and League winners, Celtic.

This week in fact young Dean left the Academy for Celtic's arch rivals Glasgow Rangers and became new Rangers manager Le Guen's first signing by agreeing a two year deal.

Prior to the move, Dean had been at Glasgow Rangers on trial.

Dean made 29 appearances for the Academy and reserve teams this season, and made 4 appearances as sub and scored 6 goals.

Also leaving are Joe Keenan who is currently on loan to Willem II in Holland, who are involved in relegation play-offs. When Joe's Chelsea contract expires at the end of June he will join the Dutch side permanently.

Youngsters, Dean Smith a 19 yrs old right-back, James Younghusband also 19 yrs old who plays on the right and Academy striker Jack Watkins, aged 18 have been released to pursue their careers elsewhere. Good luck to those boys.

Reserve team centre-half Adrian Pettigrew and reserve team forward Phil Younghusband (brother of Phil) have been given one year contracts. Also awarded further one year contracts are Academy goalkeepers Nick Hamann and James Russell. Both goalkeepers were at the end of their two-year scholarships.

With 16 year old Rhys Taylor knocking on the door, both Nick and James will have their work cut-out.
