Swansea City v Tranmere Rovers Match Preview

All the pre-match team news and statistics ahead of Rovers visit to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea City on Friday night. Tranmere are looking to pick themselves up from something of a bad run although they have had a tough run, while Swansea have lost three of there last four matches.

 

                   

 

Friday 6^th October 2006 - Kick Off 3.00pm

 

 

Coca-Cola League One at Liberty Stadium

 

 

Tranmere travel to the Libery Stadium trying to grab there first win since they played Northampton and won 3-1.  Tranmere are in the thick of a very hard run and Swansea continues this run. 

 

After 12 games Rovers are 5th with Swansea 12th 4 points behind. Swansea were beaten 3-1

After taking a 1 goal lead against Forest although a strong second half performance proved too much for Swansea.  While Tranmere lost 2-0 to Bradford at the Valley Parade.

 

While Tranmere have many key players returning from injury they will know that they need a result if they are too stay in the top 6. Swansea meanwhile are looking to climb the table into the top 6.

 

Both teams lost last Saturday so will both be looking for a win as they are both in poor form.  Rovers especially have been having poor second halves conceding 4 goals in the last 2 games during the second half.

 

The last meeting between the two sides saw top of the table Swansea play struggling Rovers in which Rovers battled well and drew 2-2 although where unlucky not to grab 3 points.  In the away leg Rovers where beaten 1-0.

 

Tranmere have made a good start to this season but will be looking to get back on track after an indifferent last few games while Swansea look to rise further up the table.  It promises to be a tough away game lets hope Ronnie can bring home the 3 points to Prenton Park!

 

 

Swansea City:

Swansea will be without defender Dennis Lawrence due to international duty with Trinidad and Tobago while front-man Lee Trundle is likely to return after missing the last five games.

Kevin Amankwaah, Adebayo Akinfenwa, Kevin Austin and Kris O’Leary are also expected to return for the Swans.

Tranmere Rovers:

Gareth Taylor is still out with a cheek injury but Rovers will see many players returning including Chris McCready, Danny Harrison, Steven Jennings, Paul Mclaren and Calvin Zola all likely be available after returning to fitness.
