Carlisle United v Tranmere Rovers Match Preview

All the pre-match team news and statistics ahead of Rovers’ visit to Brunton Park to face Carlisle Utd on Saturday. Tranmere are looking to pick themselves up against a Carlisle team with an impressive home record although Carlisle are also going through something of an indifferent spell.

Tranmere travel to Brunton Park trying to grab there first win since they played Northampton and won 3-1.  Tranmere are in the middle of a tough run and a trip to Carlisle sees it continue this weekend. 

 

After 14 games Rovers are 6th with Carlisle 12th 2 points behind.  Carlisle have lost their last 3 league games and lost to Accrington Stanley on penalties in midweek.  Tranmere meanwhile have not won in their last five league games.

 

Rovers will miss Gareth Taylor for the trip as well as Calvin Zola so youngster Steven Davies is likely to partner Chris Greenacre.

 

While Tranmere have recently been having a bad time Carlisle are going trough a similar run of form and have lost their last four games even though it was on penalties in midweek.

 

Tranmere are however still finding themselves short of striker with only two available.  Ronnie Moore has been looking to bring cover in but as of yet hasn’t found a replacement for the injured Zola and Taylor.

 

After a promising to this season, Rovers will be looking to get back on track after a poor last few games while Carlisle look to rise further up the table.  It promises to be a tough away game against a Carlisle team with a similar home record to Tranmere’s.  Get behind the lads and enjoy the game!

Carlisle's new loan signing from Stoke City, Kevin Harper is likely to go straight into the squad for this game but the home side will be without former Rovers loanee David Raven (groin) as well as top scorer Karl Hawley (broken rib) and Paul Murray (knee).

Tranmere Rovers:

Rovers look set to be without Gareth Tayor (broken jaw) as he has not quite recovered from the injury in time to play whilst fellow striker Calvin Zola (foot) is also out for the visitors.
