Rovers Extend Thompson Loan Deal

Tranmere have today extended the loan of Nottingham Forest defender John Thompson by a further month. Rovers have won all four games in which Thompson has played so far in League and Cup games.

 

Tranmere have announced that the loan period of Nottingham Forest defender John Thompson has been extended by a further month after some solid displays at the back in place of the injured Robbie Stockdale.

 

Thompson initially signed for a month when Stockdale’s injury was confirmed and he has played in three League games for Rovers at home to Bournemouth and Millwall and in the last game away at Brighton.

 

Rovers have won all the matches in which Thompson has played including the FA Cup first round tie against Woking.

 

The extension of Thompson’s loan means Rovers have increased defensive options upon the return of Stockdale and Thompson will also be available for the second round FA Cup tie at home to Peterborough a week on Saturday.

 

The player’s loan will end shortly before Rovers travel to Forest in the League on 30^th December.

Speaking to the Official Rovers Website, Manager Ronnie Moore said, "We were very keen to keep hold of John.  He has done very well since he has been here and is a good footballing defender.  He has settled in well at Prenton Park and we are delighted he agreed to stay with us for another month."
