Greenacre in Contract Extension Talks

Rovers striker Chris Greenacre is in talks with the Club over a contract extension, reports the Liverpool Echo. Greenacre is out of contract at the end of this season unless he re-signs.

 

Rovers striker Chris Greenacre is currently in talks with the Club over a new contract according to the Liverpool Echo.

 

Greenacre was Rovers top scorer last season and is out in front again this season with nine goals to his name already this campaign.

 

Despite recent rumours suggesting that he had already extended his contract with the Club, it has now been confirmed by Manager Ronnie Moore that at present, Greenacre is out of contract next summer and on that basis would be free to leave if any offers came on.

 

Tranmere have already renewed two player contracts in the last two weeks with Ian Goodison and Calvin Zola both signing on again until 2009 but most fans would probably agree that the re-signing of Greenacre would be the best of all.

 

Speaking to the Echo today, Ronnie Moore said, "We know whose contracts are up the end of the season and we are in talks with a lot of players to get things sorted out.  Chris Greenacre is contracted until the end of the season and is scoring goals for us.  We've got to be careful.  You need to keep your better players and we are working on it."

 

Greenacre added, "I have told people I am happy to be here as long as Tranmere want me  I'm enjoying my football, I am happy here and I moved my family up here.  I would like to stay."
