Saturday 17th February 2007 – Kick-Off 3.00pm
Coca-Cola League One at Huish Park
By Deadly Submarine
After the previous short road trip to Oldham, it’s another long one next for Rovers as they travel to Somerset to face League One promotion contenders Yeovil Town at Huish Park on Saturday.
Rovers will be looking to get their first win on the road since November when they won 1-0 at Brighton thanks to a Chris Greenacre goal in the first half although since that win, Rovers have drawn four and lost two of their away games.
Yeovil on the other hand have lost just one of their last six games at Huish Park and that came in their last home match against Millwall when they lost 1-0. Following that defeat, the Glovers bounced back in some style, coming back from 1-0 down to beat Carlisle 4-1 at Brunton Park on Saturday.
While Town were scoring a glut against Carlisle, Rovers were despatching Doncaster 1-0 at Prenton Park thanks again to Chris Greenacre and the Rovers striker has enjoyed scoring against Yeovil so far.
In the only three meetings between the Clubs in history, Greenacre has scored four times against Yeovil including a hat-trick in Rovers’ 4-1 win at Prenton Park last season.
At Huish Park last season, the sides drew 2-2 thanks to Rovers goals from Goodison and Greenacre and two home goals for Matt Harrold with a bit of help from hapless Rovers debutant goalkeeper Matt Murray.
Earlier this season, Rovers again won at Prenton Park against the Glovers with goals from midfield pair John Mullin and Kevin Ellison and a reply for the visitors from Cohen.
For those making the trip, get behind the lads, enjoy the game and make sure you take waterproof clothing like I should have done last year to a Stand with no roof!
Latest Team News
Yeovil Town
The Glovers will be without Marcus Stewart (calf) and John Kamudimba Kalala (suspension) and there is also a doubt over Andy Lindegaard (groin strain).
Long-term injury victims Paul Terry, Mark Lynch and Lee Morris are also still unavailable for the home side.
Tranmere Rovers
Rovers have defensive worries in particular going into this game with John Thompson (knee), Ian Goodison (ankle) and Carl Tremarco (suspension) all unavailable for selection.
As a result the possibility of Gareth Taylor as a centre-back or Kevin Ellison as a left-back have been rumoured with a change of formation also a possibility to suit the players that are available.
