Young Midfielder Makes Loan Switch

Young Tranmere Rovers central-midfielder Paul Henry, nephew of former Tranmere Rovers legend Nicky Henry who was also a central-midfielder, has today joined Welsh Premier League side The New Saints, managed by former Rovers player Kenny McKenna, on-loan until the end of the season.

Promising Tranmere Rovers midfielder Paul Henry has joined local Welsh Premier Division side The New Saints on loan until the end of the season.

Henry has so far made two appearances for Tranmere's first team, firstly coming on as a substitute to make his debut away at Doncaster Rovers in November before starting for the first time away at Luton just before Christmas.

The midfielder, who is the nephew of former Tranmere Rovers legend Nicky Henry, has captained Rovers reserve team and put in a number of impressive performances for the second string this season.

However, he is behind fellow central-midfielders John Mullin and Adnan Ahmed in the pecking order at Rovers and a move to T.N.S. where he will gain vital first team experience can only be an assistance to his future career.

Henry follows the lead of Michael Johnston, currently at Bangor City on loan and the likes of Steven Jennings, whose move to Hereford on loan last season has been a huge help in him getting first team football this season at Prenton Park.

I rate Paul very highly, he's looked a good prospect when I've seen him in the reserves and he's captained them too. Against Luton this season I thought he was excellent as he made his first start.

This move should be really good for im as he can get some experience and I fully expect him to come back a better player for it.

My opinion is that he should be ahead of Mullin and maybe level with Ahmed for that central-midfield player - behind Jenno and McLaren - but next season he should probably be pushing for the place

jenno had played alot more games for us though before he went out onloan. hope we defo bring henry back but i can't see it winning him a start still for a while.
