Ronnie Moore went for a 4-5-1 formation for this match with Antony Kay replacing the injured Ian Goodison, whilst Adnan Ahmed became the extra man in the midfield, meaning Ian Moore was alone upfront.

On 13 minutes Jason Scotland's deflected shot was well saved by Danny Coyne before the keeper then saved well again from the same player moments later.

Paul McLaren from a free kick and also Jennison Myrie-Williams then tested De Vries in the Swans goal whilst at the other end Andy Robinson shot wide.

With only a few minutes left until half-time, Swansea took the lead through Alan Tate.  A corner was half cleared and the defender smashed in a volley from the edge of the box.

Half Time : Swansea 1-0 Tranmere

Shane Sherriff went close twice in the early stages of the second half, and also shot wide on 59 minutes whilst Andy Taylor and Ian Moore both tested De Vries as Rovers looked for an equaliser.

At the other end Robinson's free kick ended in the side netting, much to Rovers' relief.

Chris Greenacre then replaced Myrie-Williams with twenty minutes as Ronnie Moore changed to a 4-4-2 formation.

Bauza and Bodde then both had chances to make the game safe for Swansea but were eventually made to pay for wasting them.

Calvin Zola then replaced John Mullin with a few minutes left in desperation to get something out of the game and as the injury time board went up, Paul McLaren floated in a free kick and Chris Greenacre converted at the near post.

It was a point that Rovers definitetly deserved and the Rovers fans will have left the Liberty Stadium delighted with the almost unexpected result.
