Best or Worst Poll Series Number 1 (Goalkeepers)
By Deadly Submarine May 14 2008
Brand new for the summer months here at Total Tranmere, we introduce a new series of summer polls titled The Best or Worst Series in which we pose a different question every fortnight and ask you for your opinion and to debate it on our Message Board.
The Best or Worst Series – Number 1 (Goalkeepers)
Over the summer, to keep the site ticking over amidst the rumour and speculation which is sure to surface time and time again, we are running a series of fortnight long polls on the Site which is titled ‘The Best or Worst'.
Each fortnight, we will pose a question with two answers and ask either which answer is the best or which is the worst (depending on the topic) before bringing you the results of each poll after fourteen days as well as launching the next poll in the series.
As well as enabling you to vote in the poll each fortnight, we also hope that the questions that we pose each time will spark some debate on our Message Board as people explain who they have voted for and why in each different category.
Our first poll of this summer series looks at Goalkeepers and as we ask the question Who is the Worst Rovers Keeper out of Gavin Ward and Steve Wilson.
Ward or Wilson?
Some will argue that these two candidates both had good points during their time at Tranmere but others will forever remember them as Keepers who simply weren't good enough during their Tranmere careers but who, in your opinion was worse?
The results of this poll will be announced a week tomorrow (Thursday), with the next poll in the series being revealed the day before on Wednesday (two weeks today).
The poll can be found on all the pages of this Site either at the bottom of the Homepage or on the bottom of the right hand side menu depending on which page of the site you are viewing at the time.
If you have any problems finding or voting in the poll, contact our Admin Team on info@total-tranmere.co.uk.
Total Tranmere would like to point out that the views that follow are the views of our Readers and NOT the views of Total Tranmere.

Best or Worst Poll Series Number 1 (Goalkeepers)
Wilson was a decent 'keeper and if you'd actually bothered to watch him you would have seen he put in some great away performances, especially at places such as Rotherham and Colchester in the season he was with us. People only remember him for the dire penalty against Carlisle.
Ward was a shocker, errors were the norm and he couldn't cover his near post when a shot came in.
He made several good saves at Rotherham, including the penalty, but if I remember rightly one goal was a deflected cross to that landed straight at the feet of an attacker and the other he made a stunning save but the ball went straight to a Rotherham player, ridiculously unlucky, who controled the ball with his hand before netting
They both had their good points but overall probably two terrbile keepers.
IMO, when they had to make a reaction save they were very good at it, and Ward in particular was a good shot stopper but couldn't keep hold of the ball.
Wilson was only small and didn't really come out and collect the ball much, however Ward made so many errors.
I dnon't think its fair to judge either really - Ward played 40 odd games and Wilson played, well not sure but got to be less than 15. Had Wilson played as many games as Ward would he of made as many errors or not?
To be fair to him, I think that was one of his better moments. He had to do it in the situation. If he hadn't, I am sure we would have been one down. I loved that DH strike. What a goal that was.
Wilson was twice the player Ward was! Ward was the worst goalkeeper i have seen in my entire life, made more mistakes than saves! Wilson was a very good keeper in my opinion.... just not a natural penalty taker!!!!!
The Funniest Moment of Steve Wilso was he made a fantastic save v Doncaster i think it was? and then he decided to dribble it out and they scored from it, does anybody else remeber this at home?
I actually don't think Wilson was a bad 'keeper i liked him. And was another are fans turned on easy.
What about Oldham away?! We worked so hard for a point and then Ward dropped It with a couple of minutes left! No pressure on him but he dropped It straight Into the path of an Oldham player!
