Chairman Rogers to Step Down in May

After speculation on the matter yesterday, Lorraine Rogers has this morning announced that she is to step down as Chairman of the Club at the end of this current season. In her statement she expressed her alarm at the way football is heading in relation to the lower Leagues.
After a circulation of rumour around the Tranmere Web yesterday, Rovers' Chairman Lorraine Rogers has this morning confirmed that this season will be her last at the Club.
An early release of her programme notes for tomorrow's home match against Hartlepool United sees Lorraine speak of her disillusion at the way the game, particularly at the lower than Premiership levels, is heading in the current climate and this appears to be the reason why she has taken the decision to step down.
Whether a specific event has prompted the final nail in Roger's tenure as Chairman of the Club is unclear but from her statement on the Official Website it would appear that the Steve Davies saga has had a big impact on her thoughts about the game in its current state.
After joining the Board ten years ago, Rogers has since helped to keep Tranmere Rovers in business and afloat and whilst she has been far from a popular figure amongst some fans and people within the Club, there can be no doubt that the job she has done has been a good one.

On the pitch Rovers have declined in the course of her tenure, dropping down a Division from the Championship to League One and remaining there since after a failed promotion attempt but the climate of football that Lorraine refers to in her statement would suggest that Clubs like Tranmere were always going to be up against it anyway, regardless of who was in charge.
Where the future of Roger's 30% share stake lies now is anyone's guess but a fresh face may just be the ticket rather than an internal promotion of a current Board member. The fans of Tranmere though can rest assured that Lorraine will make sure the best person is found for the interests of the Club.
Many will argue that any other Business person could have come in and done the same job that Lorraine Rogers has done and whilst this may be true, we as Rovers' fans have to thank her for putting herself in the position of risk in the first place and coming out of it, certainly financially, with much credit indeed.

As it is, strange and mysterious times lie ahead for our wonderful club. Whoever comes in next has the potential to take us either way - lets just hope it's the right way.

I agree that she is 100% spot on in what she says and can't help thinking that the Davies saga may have been the final straw as with Simon Jordan at Palace?

At least she will only sell to the right person, the way it is worded on BBC makes it sound as if she will only sell if the right person comes along, so perhaps she may stay even longer if there are no 'responsible buyers'.
But i'd just like to Thank Lorraine for being shall i say a great servent, and for helping the club in a crucial time and for bascially not getting into administration!
Also she has no other jobs now apart from the Liverpool Philarmonic, (She isn't on the FL or the FA now)
