Tranmere Rovers V Crewe Alexandra Match Discussion

For those who are unable to go to the game against Crewe Alexandra tonight, here is your platform for discussing the events of the night whether it be the Rovers match itself or any other happenings in Coca-Cola League One that affect Tranmere in any way.

Crewe Alexandra Match Discussion Thread

At Total Tranmere, we always like to take note of feedback from the users of the site and respond to it in the best way we can.  One thing we have picked up on more recently is that after Tranmere games there seem to be a lot of different threads that get started about the same game.

As a result of this feedback, from now on we will be providing Match Discussion Threads for every occasion when Tranmere play.

Tranmere are of course at home to Crewe Alexandra later tonight but if you're not going to the game, why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?

Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.  Or why not post the line-ups or anything else you can think of.

Why not also use this facility to discuss other games and scores that kick-off at 7.45pm which may or may not have an effect on Tranmere too.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Can't complain with that. Sloppy first half and very dissapointing at the back, Goodison and Shotton making far too many errors, but got going second half and in the end were by far the better side.

yeah we played decent, not spectacular but were efficient enough, I thought the second half was better than the first though. It was a matter of time before we scored I thought, and Shuker took his goal really well. For me though Edds was terrible, gave the ball away all the time, and not just that his fitness levels look well below par, he looked knackered after half an hour, time to give Barnett a chance who looked tidy when he came on. All in all a great week, now hopefully we can continue our good away form on tuesday.

Barnett & Ahmed should be at least on the bench, with Edds dropped

Was great to just get the three points, boost up the goal difference and keep the good run of wins going. Shuker again provided for one and scored himself though for a disaster from the centre back and is joint top scorer now with Big Bas.

It's momentum for the Stockport game on Tues and if we come away with another win there then its set up perfectly for the cruical game at MK Dons.

Tonight everyone put in a shift, doing there job effectively with Ian Moore running his socks off as usual, the defenders coping with any threat if any from Crewe.

It's also rewarding to have three consecutive clean sheets. That will do the confidence a world of good. Just shows what three wins does, in the final play off place and who's complaining?

Have to give credit to Danny Coyne tonight too in my opinion.

Some early saves in the first half and at least one in the second helped us a lot.

I thought Jennings had a good game as did Shuker and Moore (in the second half particularly for Moore).

Savage worked hard as ever and it was a vital result.

I'm looking forward to Tuesday now!

Next two away games are really important, they are really tough games but if we come away with 3/4 points then we'll still be right up there!

Three points would be acceptable fromthe next two but I feel at the same time that if we can stay unbeaten it might make a big difference.

Good second half performance and thoroughly deserved the win in the end. At nil-nil though it was difficult to see where we were going to get a goal though.

Decent performance from Savage although there were about 3 times when he got out wide and played a nice ball into the box with no one there.

With no out and out striker, if we don't get an early goal, looks like its going to be difficult to get at teams which isn't the end of the world as long as Moore is prepared to switch it early (not just last 10 mins).

Every time we went forward in the first half especially Crewe had 8 men behind the ball.

They came for a draw from the outset and up until half-time their plan was going well.

I think Barnett needs a few more starts from the bench the he will be ready think it was a bit early for him at the begining of the season goes dont think he played a lot of games last season when he gets in i think he will give good through balls to the forwards and a bit of steel i know he is not the biggest but is hard in the tackle seen i few of the reserve games he played in looks decent looking forward to seeing him get a run in the first team

Yep definitely but in this situtaion our 4-6-0 formation was not looking like it was the best way (or second/third etc best way) to break them down. Until we scored, I had a nasty feeling it was going to be a 0-1 with them getting something on the break.

No objections to sticking with a winning team as long as we are flexible to change it (and not just last 10 mins)

Change a team that has won the last three matches? Great idea!
