Ronnie: "It's What The FA Cup Is All About"

Rovers Manager Ronnie Moore was in an upbeat mood ahead of tomorrow's FA Cup first round tie away at Accrington Stanley as Rovers look to repeat last season's first round win away to League Two opposition and progress once again the second round of the competition.

In his pre-match thoughts, Rovers Manager Moore looked forward to the away FA Cup first round tie at Accrington Stanley, a team whom Rovers have already knocked out of one Cup this season.

 Moore told Tranmere World..........

"It's the FA Cup and it will be a tough game, but if we play anything like we can I like to think we can get through to the second round.  It's a big competition for a football club our size.  We'll go there full of confidence and I imagine we'll take quite a few supporters."

"It's a tight ground on a slope and there will be a nice atmosphere - it's what the FA Cup is all about." 

"I don't think it will be a pretty game. I'm sure they'll be into our ribs and I've told our lads we have to be into their faces.  If we stand off them and think we're a League One side and that we can just pass it and stroll about we'll get a rude awakening."

"If you're not fully focussed on the job in hand then there's a banana skin for you.  The FA Cup is time to roll your sleeves up. They'll be up for it, the crowd will be up for it and whatever eleven I put out, if they're not motivated for it then they shouldn't be playing."

"When we're on the ball we have to pass it and do the right things.  If we do hopefully we'll be ok. The lads know how important it is to themselves and to the Club.  If we can get to the Third Round and get a TV game it's what dreams are made of."

"We've picked up one or two little knocks so there will be a bit of a sweat on to see whether we can put a side out!   Bas Savage is struggling, Ian Goodison is struggling, Ben Chorley has a groin strain and Craig Curran is out, so we've got one or two little problems.  But it's how we play that's the big thing, and for any players coming in it's a great opportunity for them."
