Achterberg Testimonial Brings Toffees to Prenton

It has been confirmed today that Tranmere will take on Premiership neighbours Everton in March in John Achterberg's testimonial game. The evening will see a legends game take place first before Moore's men and Moyes' men do battle in the main game later on.
Since the announcement a month or so ago that goalkeeper John Achterberg had been granted a testimonial game by Tranmere to honour his eleven years of service to the Club, Rovers fans have been eagerly awaiting the details of just who Rovers would play against.
When that news broke today it certainly didn't disappoint as Premiership neighbours Everton from over the Mersey were confirmed as the opponents for the main game.
David Moyes has kindly agreed to bring a side over the river to face Ronnie Moore's men for a deserved tribute to the Dutch goalkeeper who played in Rovers last meeting of the two sides - that famous 3-0 victory for John Aldridge's Tranmere side at Prenton Park in 2001.
What sort of side Everton bring in the middle of the football season and at such a crucial time remains to be seen but it is sure to be a night to remember.

As previously announced, the game will be preceded by a Legends game which will see a team consisting of the Wembley 2000 squad take on a team of former Rovers players who have played alongside John during his Rovers career.
Between the two games, the legends will be taking part in a meet and greet walk about around the Prenton Park pitch to allow Rovers fans to get autographs, photos and shirts signed.
