Moore Looks Ahead to Tough Bristol Test

Ronnie Moore looks ahead to tomorrow's tricky away trip to Bristol Rovers in League One where amongst other things, Rovers will come up against one of League One's hottest marksmen in striker Ricky Lambert. Last season Rovers thought Antony Kay had won them the game but the hosts scored a late leveller.

Rovers manager Ronnie Moore today gave his views on his side's tough away test at Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

Bristol Rovers, who seem to be scoring for fun of late with hotshot Liverpudian striker Ricky Lambert have also conceded a lot of goals leading Paul Trollope to consider defensive changes.

The last time the pair met at the Memorial Stadium Rovers picked up a valuable point, Moore told the Tranmere Official Website...

"We've got a really big game now against Bristol Rovers.  They can't stop scoring, but they're conceding a few goals as well, so I'd imagine it's not going to be 0-0."

"We're in good form in the league and I'm pleased with the way we're progressing.  We want to be in the top six.  We've got to go to Bristol full of confidence, but we know they can play."

"We were half decent there last year and we got a decent result.  But we know it's going to be a tough game.  Lambert is scoring goals for fun, and he's not the only threat.  We've got to defend as well as we have been doing in the league in the last few games. We've been OK defensively and it would be nice to start pinching games."

"If we go and play with the confidence we have shown away from home recently I don't see any reason why we can't win the game."

Moore also commented on Mark Wilson who is a strong doubt, whilst Chris Greenacre will miss out and Craig Curran is not too far away from coming back into the squad.  Moore added....

"Curran isn't a million miles away from coming back into the squad, but Greenacre still has a problem with his back. Wilson is a big doubt for Saturday, that will go right down to the wire."

Meanwhile Bristol Rovers manager is expecting to make changes to his defence on Saturday after criticising them on BBC Radio Bristol after his side lost 3-2 to Millwall, Trollope told BBC Radio Bristol:

"Defensively, some players are not up to speed, but some are getting there.  All three goals were avoidable, it's not rocket science, we need to be better in defensive situations."
