A fresh look for an essential book on Tranmere Rovers Football Club is set for release later in 2009 and Total Tranmere has received information from the authors about what to expect from the book once it is released. Here is the information we have received....

Last February, Tranmere Rovers historians Gil Upton, Steve Wilson and Peter Bishop reached agreement with Breedon Books, the UK's leading publisher of football record books, to publish their new and comprehensive Complete Record of the club since 1884, the culmination of over 20 years' careful research. Their work is all but complete now, just the end of season update to do.
Already, Breedon's production machine is working on the book towards the planned publication date of 1st August 2009 which will coincide with the 125th anniversary of the formation of the club as Belmont FC in 1884.
As a hardback book of 560 pages, with nearly 400 illustrations, it will surely become the essential reference and history book for all things Tranmere Rovers for many years to come.
Publishers Breedon are planning to organise an advance subscription list for fans to get their name in the book too. Details will be announced through the club when the list opens in the coming weeks.
Based on the authors' research over the last twenty years, the contents will include:

- A history of the match programme.
- The story Rovers Anglo Italian Cup adventures

- Seasonal tables of results (1884-1919)
- Full details of League and Cup games during World War 2
- 25 memorable matches are recalled in words and pictures.
- Playing records, dates of birth etc of over 750 players since 1921
- Key data, records and statistics
- Unique graphs charting the club's attendances and finances
- A Foreword by ex-player Ray Stubbs, now a BBC presenter.
The price of the book will be £19.99 and it will be available in the Tranmere Rovers Club Shop, bookshops and leisure outlets locally.
