The results of our most recent site poll in which we asked you for your views on a possible new Stadium for Rovers in the foreseeable future after rumours once again circulated on the subject. The results produced a damning verdict from the fans…...

As local concern grew in December of last year that Woodchurch Leisure Centre would be closed as part of the Wirral Borough Council cuts, rumours circulated once again about a possible Stadium move for Rovers with Woodchurch suggested as one of the options for a site for the new Ground.
With that and our recent visit to Milton Keynes Dons new Stadium:MK, we decided to ask our readers for their views on the possibility of Rovers leaving Prenton Park and moving to a new Stadium sometime in the foreseeable future.
After a month of voting, the majority view of the fans was a clear one as the results show.....
Question: What Would Your Views Be on New Stadium for Rovers? | ||||||
Number of votes: 154 | ||||||
Almost two thirds of those who voted (58%) said they love our very own Prenton Park and would not want the Club to move anywhere whilst a further 10% were firmly sitting on the fence, being unsure either way.
Just overr 30% of fans however thought that Stadium:MK was great and would love to see Rovers move to a new Stadium of their own sometime in the future.
The problem Rovers have of course is the amount of money that the current Main Stand at Prenton Park costs them each year through maintenance and other costs, a figure reported to be around £500,000 per annum and as well as this the Stadium as a whole has had major problems with flooding during bad weather in recent years due to it's positioning.
A new Stadium is not cheap either of course but the land on which Prenton Park stands is worth a decent amount for housing which could help towards a move.
Personally, I feel that a new Main Stand at Prenton Park would be sufficient rather than a total Ground move and it seems that the majority of Rovers fans agree judging by the results of this poll.
It would also be fair to add that nice though Stadium:MK was, the new era of modern Stadia lack character and often atmosphere too.
A reminder too that our latest poll was launched this week on the site in which we asked you ‘Which Area of the Rovers Squad Most Needs Strengthening in January?' The poll can be found on every page of Total Tranmere usually at the bottom of the left hand menu so make your vote count!
