Cheltenham Town v Tranmere Rovers Match Preview

After Saturday’s disappointing result at Crewe in which Rovers surrendered a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 in the final seven minutes, Tranmere now have a quick chance to redeem themselves as they travel to Cheltenham Town subject to an 11.00 am pitch inspection tomorrow.

After losing away to the team at the foot of League One on Saturday, Rovers will be hoping to avoid doing exactly the same again within four days as now bottom Cheltenham Town is the destination for Ronnie Moore's men on Tuesday night subject to a pitch inspection at 11.00am tomorrow.

Despite their excellent home form at the moment, Rovers have not won since October 18^th when they beat Leyton Orient 1-0 thanks to a Chris Shuker goal - something that Ronnie Moore needs to put right if Rovers are to make the play-offs this season.

In the six previous League meetings since Cheltenham were promoted it's all square with two draws and two wins each for the two sides.  Cheltenham have scored one more goal in the six meetings than Tranmere have.

At home, the Robins have won four, drawn four and lost six whilst Rovers' away record reads three wins, three draws and three defeats.

Ian Goodison will Miss the Trip to Cheltenham

Earlier this season when Cheltenham visited Prenton Park, Rovers won 2-0 thanks to goals from Savage and Sonko in the second half whilst the last meeting at Whaddon Road saw the side's draw 1-1 as Chris Greenacre found the net for the visitors in the early part of the 2007/08 season.

With the game subject to a pitch inspection tomorrow morning at eleven o'clock, please check before you travel to the game if you have plans to make the trip.

If the game does go ahead, Cheltenham have confirmed that the usual away stand at Whaddon Road will not be open and instead the visiting fans will be allocated one end of the home Stand for the game.

Even before his injury, Ian Goodison was suspended for this game but could now be facing a four to six week spell on the sidelines with the injury sustained at Crewe on Saturday.

Strikers Chris Greenacre and Craig Curran are still out but Ronnie Moore has confirmed that Gareth Edds will return to the starting line-up meaning a likely return to defence for captain Antony Kay.
