Ahead of Saturday’s second away trip to Essex in the space of five days, Rovers Boss Ronnie Moore was in an upbeat mood but admitted that the trip to Southend will be by no means easy for his side despite the win at the Shrimpers rivals Colchester in midweek.

Ronnie Moore was in an upbeat but cautious mood ahead of Saturday's trip to Southend United in Coca-Cola League One following the midweek win at Colchester United.

Moore told Tranmere World on Thursday.....

"We've been talking about the away form and results wise it hasn't been good.  But performance wise we've been OK and on Tuesday we were the best side by a mile, and we got the break of the goal.  Hopefully now that will keep everybody quiet about what we can't do away from home."

"Southend won't be easy.  They're a big strong side who are always good at home.  It's about going away and doing the right things.  Hopefully we can go to Southend, get the win and then it really sets up the three home games."

"They've got good players, with Freedman and Robinson up front.  We know the threat is there, and we know they're a good side from set plays as they have a lot of players who are six foot plus.  We have to be careful we don't give away too many silly free kicks around the area."

"We've taken 19 points out of 21 at home and that's a tremendous record.  It's important we don't lose away games. We've proved we can win without Goodison because the back four were superb on Tuesday."

Without naming any names, Moore also added that the injury situation within the squad may have worsened slightly after Tuesday night's game.....

"We've picked up one or two little knocks so we're not the biggest squad at the moment. I'm not going to say who they are but we'll leave it until the last minute before we travel tomorrow."
