Ian Moore has revealed his performances this season are driven by the jealously he felt when watching the League One Play-off Final at Wembley Stadium last May between his former team Leeds United and eventual winners Doncaster Rovers.

In an interview with the Football League Website this week, Tranmere striker Ian Moore has revealed that the excellent performances he has been putting in this season for his father's team are driven by jealousy after a trip to last season's League One Play-Off Final.

In the eyes of some, Ian Moore is a contender for Rovers Player of the Season at the Awards Dinner in late April and the drive behind those performances stems from Moore Jnr's visit to watch his former side Leeds United take on Doncaster Rovers in the play-off final last May - a game which Doncaster won to earn promotion to the Championship.

Moore told the Football League Website......

"I was so jealous of my old Leeds team mates.  I kept thinking it could have been us out there if our season hadn't fizzled out.  It was really disappointing, the way we fell away in our last ten games, and I came away from Wembley determined that next time it would be Tranmere out on that lovely pitch."

"Our aim at the start of this season was to reach the Play-Offs and right now we're quite well placed but this time we have to build up the momentum instead of falling away."

Ian Moore is Hoping to End His Season at Wembley with Tranmere!

After leaving Rovers for Nottingham Forest for £1million in 1997, Rovers current top scorer for this season had spells at Stockport, Burnley and Leeds United before moving to Hartlepool at the start of last season. 

However,  personal reasons meant the constant travel to the North East was unworkable and in the January 2008 transfer window, Moore was re-united with his dad Ronnie who had previously been assistant at Prenton Park in Ian's last playing spell at Rovers.

"It was good to come back to Tranmere.  I'd always wanted to end my career here and hopefully I'll be able to do that.  I'd also always wanted to play for one of my dad's teams and it would have been nice to maybe have done that in my early 20's, but I'm enjoying it now."

"I've talked to a lot of lads who've played for him over the years and they all say what a great team spirit his teams have, and that's certainly the case at Tranmere these days."

"Hopefully that spirit can help us finish this season better than we did last year and we can end up playing our last game of the campaign at Wembley."

He's been quieter in the last few games but as Matt suggested he may have been knakcered and Jenno said on the Radio last Monday that the players were feeling the pinch of three consecutive Tuesday/Saturday combinations.

The Players had Sunday and Monday off before training again on Tuesday so hopefully that's helped!

Still arguably the best player for us this season on the whole though!

This season has been a funny one I think in that so many players have done so well, it's really been silly mistakes and lapses in concentration that have cost us a few points in my opinion. Nobody has really played us off the park. Most of our wins have been fully deserved, some of our defeats have not been deserved and some of our draws were in games we should really have won.

i was just going to say he was none existant in our last home game, however he has had a better season than last i feel, and there is moore to come (sorry my bad)
i just hope with Gornell finally gettin in an grabbing his goal and greenacre back maybe we could get a little bit of luck which we dont seem to have had much of this season and with the competition mayb find that extra gear were lacking to get us into the top 6

Looked refreshed and a lot better today. More energy and a lot of running plus plenty of defensive work. Well done Ian lad
