Tranmere Rovers v Swindon Town Match Preview

For the third match in a row, Rovers are at home in Coca-Cola League One tomorrow with Swindon Town the latest side to visit the ground that has become something of a fortress in recent weeks for Tranmere Rovers.

The game is of course a repeat of the opening day of the season when Rovers lost 3-1 away at the County Ground with Bas Savage netting a late consolation with five minutes remaining after a poor performance from Ronnie Moore's new look side.

Swindon haven't won at Prenton Park since February 2003 when on that occasion, Andy Gurney was on target for the Robins in a 1-0 win and in 26 visits in history so far, Town have won just four times so Rovers will be hoping the visitors recent poor run at Prenton Park continues as they look for revenge for the opening day defeat.

Swindon currently find themselves just two places and one point above the relegation zone in 19^th and have recently changed Managers with former Hartlepool Boss Danny Wilson taking over the reins from Maurice Malpas after a poor run of form put the Wiltshire side deeper into relegation trouble.

A win for Rovers could see them move ever closer to that coveted play-off spot as six of the top sides in League One face each other this weekend.  The top two sides in League One, Leicester City and MK Dons meet at Stadium:MK whilst Millwall host Oldham and Leeds are at home to Scunthorpe giving Rovers a great chance to make up some ground.

It's been 13 games and four months since Rovers last lost a home League game (a 3-1 defeat to Millwall) and recent home results against high-flying Peterborough and MK Dons, although both draws, suggest that this will be a tricky game for the Robins.

Andy Taylor looks set to be fit once more for Rovers and may return the side at the expense of Aaron Cresswell.  Injury concerns remain though over goalkeeper Danny Coyne and defender Ian Goodison with John Achterberg ready to step between the posts ince again if Coyne fails to make it.

Rovers Boss Ronnie Moore is definitely without Craig Curran and Chris Greenacre for this game.
