Weather Report

Another sunny day for the majority of the game although the cold came briefly just after half-time when the sun went down for a short time.

Crowd

5,945 fans were inside Prenton Park but not helped by just a handful of hard-core Hereford fans who made the trip including Spongebob Squarepants himself.

Referee Watch

Nigel Miller (County Durham) - Many will argue the red card for Goodison and the late penalty that cost Rovers a clean sheet but aside from that the referee didn't have a bad game although there were very few fouls and free kicks to be given - 7/10

Best Moment

Savage's goal was fantastic but then Barnett's twenty minutes later was probably even better and is the moment of the game I will remember most from the game.

Worst Moment

The red card for Ian Goodison, which until a second viewing on TV was the right decision in my opinion, was a nightmare for the remainder of the season.  Ian had another shaky game but he and Chorley are used to playing together and thi could be a blow for the final three games.

Tranmere Man of the Match

Andy Taylor - After coming back into the side part way through the 1-0 win at Walsall on Saturday at the expense of Aaron Cresswell, Taylor had a great game at left-back today and thoroughly deserves the award.

Connections

Hereford boasted three former Rovers players in their squadlist and two of them, Jennison Myrie-Williams and Steven O'Leary both played today.  Godwin Antwi who was on loan at Prenton Park earlier in the season didn't make the matchday squad though for the visitors.

Rovers Fans

Some noise from the Kop and some from the Johnny King Stand from the off but as the game became a frustrating encounter the noise of the fans reflected this almost to the point that by the end you would have thought we had lost the game rather than winning.

Hereford Fans

Surely numbering not more than 100 today, the Hereford fans could be seen (but not heard) getting behind their team and well done to Spongebob Squarepants for making an appearance too.

Summary

The game ended on a downer with the thought of Goodison's suspension for possibly the remainder of the season but the win was just the job required in the end.

With Scunthorpe and Southend both winning though the pressure is on from behind for Rovers ahead of the trip to Leeds next week.

Entertainment Value

Rovers could have more than their two first half goals but in the second half the visitors gave it a real go, making it uncomfortable viewing for the home fans - 7/10
