Lairds the Location for Rovers Reserve Games

Tranmere have confirmed today that Rovers’ Reserves will play their home games at Cammell Laird’s Kirklands Stadium during the 2009/10 season rather than at Prenton Park where they have played in recent seasons.

Following the recent announcement that Premier League side Liverpool would play their home Reserve matches at Prenton Park during the 2009/10 season, Tranmere today confirmed that its own Reserve home games will be played at Cammell Laird's Kirklands Stadium in Rock Ferry.

In a move to protect the Prenton Park pitch, Rovers will play all nine home matches in the totesport.com Reserve League and all home League Cup games at Kirklands which last night was the scene of a 3-2 friendly defeat for Rovers against Lairds.

The move to allow Liverpool to play at Prenton Park whilst playing themselves at Lairds will surely bring increased revenue to the Club as Liverpool pay a larger sum to use Prenton Park than Rovers will pay Lairds to use Kirklands.

Rovers Chief Executive Mick Horton said of the move....

"We're pleased Cammell Laird Football Club have agreed to host our matches for the coming season.  We have a good relationship with Lairds having played there regularly in pre-season for some time, and look forward to our visits throughout the season."
