Latest Issue of Rovers Fanzine 'GUAR' Now on Sale

Saturday's home Coca-Cola League One match saw the launch of the latest issue of the Tranmere  Rovers Fanzine ‘Give Us an R' (the second issue of this 2009/10 season) and once again it makes for an interesting read as fall out from the mad events of the summer continues to cause constant talking points amongst Rovers Fans.

Issue 56 (September/October 2009) features a front page image of youngster Ryan Fraughan battling against a Macclesfield Town player during the pre-season 0-0 draw at Moss Rose and the reading begins with the usual comments from 'The Doctor' on everything that has been relvevant in the past few weeks including the appointment of John Barnes and Jason McAteer, the Masters Final and the launch of the Tranmere Rovers book.

All three of this season's away days so far are reviewed in this issue with the trips to Yeovil, Leeds and most latterly the trip to Carlisle all covered in great detail and with the usual element of humour despite our current predicament.

Rovers Fan John Redgrift from Birkenhead takes his turn in the hotseat as he is interviewed for the "You Don't Have to Be Mad - but it helps" section of the magazine.

As you would expect there is a three page review of last weeks Masters Grand Final which of course saw Rovers win the tournament as well as a number of pictures from the night whilst the Masters, amongst other things, is also featured in the article of regular contributor The Paddock Man.

Another regular contributor, Deadly Submarine of this website, chooses to focus his thoughts on Tranmere's recent attempted sale on Ebay and also on the new home and away kits that have been launched.

A feature on the merits of cheap tickets and filled seats vs. current prices and huge empty spaces makes an interesting read and is accompanied by a feature on Rovers away support numbers last season for every away game and also the away support that visited Prenton Park for each game last season.

With the usual Stadium Picture Quiz and a review of both 'Four Four Two' and 'When Saturday Comes' magazines, pre-season predictions, the magazine is well worth it's £2.00 price tag.

The final page features a full colour picture of another Rovers Legend during his Tranmere career - this time Gary Jones takes centre-stage.

At just £2.00 the fanzine remains, in our opinion, a great value for money purchase and a must for those Rovers fans interested in the views of other fans which may not always we seen in the modern world of internet forums.

Dave Goat sells the Fanzine at virtually all Rovers games.  At home games he can be found lurking on the gravel area underneath the Board which tells of the next fixtures at Prenton Park (on the opposite side of the Car Park Entrance to the Mersey Clipper Pub) whilst at away games he can be found lurking outside the away turnstiles prior to kcik-off so make sure you pick up your copy of Issue 56 - you won't regret in our opinion!
