Throughout the season we will provide you with a platform to discuss each and every Rovers match whether it be the build-up to kick-off or post match analysis so here we bring you the Match Discussion Thread for Saturday afternoon's Coca Cola League One match at home to Colchester United....

Kick-Off 3.00pm at Prenton Park
For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the high number of costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match anaylsis.
Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game.
Tranmere host Colchester United in Coca Cola League One today, so if you're not going to the game, why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on.
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores in Coca-Cola League One as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Well today was the first time I have seen us play since last season because I have been in the states. I thought we were ok to a certain extent, we definitely started the better side and I felt deserved to go a goal up.
However you can see why we struggle. Firstly the defending is comical. Every time they went forward there was toruble, and they could have had three or four in the aftermath of their equaliser. So all that hard work in going in front was undone by poor defending.
I was not impressed with Broomes either, and Goodison looks shaky. And also how many free headers did they have from corners and set pieces? To be honest a draw has done us no good in terms of the league, we are now 5 points from safety and Tuesday now looks like a huge game, espeically for Barnes.
All in all while I felt we did ok today we still look extrmemly vulnerable and easy to play against, somehting that wasn't true last season. I wonder if Barnes would have been here had Odejayi not missed that sitter at the end. That summs it up for me though, as while we had most of the possession, it was Colchester who created the better chances, and could easily have won.

A much improved performance today and it was actually a good game to watch at times.
The goal we conceded was shocking yet again but had Bain's late goal counted it wouldn't have been too unjust I wouldn't think.
That's no guarantee of a good performance/result on Tuesday of course but fingers crossed.

Surely if its defeat on Tuesday it spells the end for Barnes. Depending on other results we could find ourselves 8 points from safety, and even though it is early that is a lot of points to make up. We would also be 6 points behind Wycombe, Tuesday is a big night for JB!

The reason we drew is because we weren't so deep as we usually are. When we inevitabley gave the ball away, it was in the middle of the pitch not our own penalty area giving us time to defend still.
Regardless it was still very sloppy and not much changes.

Reading Peter Johnson's Programme notes it seems Barnes has the backing still though.

Appointment and dismissal are different. The memebers of the board own a percentage of Tranmere and many of them, especially Mick Horton do a hell of a lot of work to keep the club running, I doubt PJ does that much of the day-to-day running of the club. If the rest of the board desperately wanted Barnes out they could act together against PJ.
The board decide as a group, not an individual, although there may be some members who will tag along with Johnson and he may need to be forced some times.

To be honest I thought it was on a par with the last game I went to against Wallsall.
At 1-0 we were playing reasonably well and I was actually feeling pretty confident-ish in both games we then handed the an equalizer, both times we then proceeded to fall apart.
Only difference was that after hanging on to HT, we were a bit more composed and got a few slices of luck defensively.
Thought we played pretty well going forward, created chances (couldn't believe some muppets nearby saying there was no creativity) but the defence is beyond dodgy and may well cost JB his job. I don't know, maybe if he could get someone in on the staff who knows how to organise a defence we might have a chance.
Goodison needs a goal or something to give him his mojo back or something - he's looking a shadow of his former dominant self.

I thought it was similar to last weeks performance at Exeter, slight improvements each week since the Carlisle game, Ian T-Moore had his best game so far just lacked a goal. I think with the Barnes situation, see how we go against wycombe, more improvements he stays, one step backwards from the team and he leaves.

I'm not sure that Goodo is good enough any more. The goal wasn't the first time he was beaten, and other teams will cotton on to his frailties.
Though the overall performance was better, still don't know why Shuker is getting so many minutes on the bench, though think that Ricketts is showing signs of improvement.
Would like to see Mahon play in the centre, and give Bain more than 5 minutes

He may just be going through a confidence crisis, he is the leader of a pretty poor defence.
At the moment, he's not looking a good player at all in fact a bit of a liability but I wouldn't write him off yet - partly because we've got no one else mind.

He's also playing for a manager that he dislikes and has fell out with in the past, which certainly doesn't help matters not only for Goodison, but the team.
The majoirty of the team have all played with Goodison before, he's a leader and a club captain, amongst the players who've been here before Barnes he was probably by far the most respected player - and thats reflected by the results when he's missing. Regardless of what anyone thinks of his ability, (as I know a few hate him!), when the most respected player, the leader of your team is not performing at his best because of a disagreement with the manager pre-Tranmere Rovers (for the manager anyway) it influences how the rest of the team see the situation. They all obviously respect Goody as a team-mate, friend and as a leader, so will swing towards his side anyway.

Goodison was poor last season too. I wouldn't say I hate him and times he's vital but he isn't as reliable now as people like to make out (including last season).

Maybe not in your eyes but he is by far the most respected player we have, and because he doesn't get on with Barnes it has a knock on effect.
