Tranmere Rovers v Brighton and HA - Match Discussion Thread
By Total Tranmere
October 17 2009
Throughout the season we will provide you with a platform to discuss each and every Rovers match whether it be the build-up to kick-off or post match analysis so here we bring you the Match Discussion Thread for Saturday afternoon's Coca Cola League One match at home to Brighton and Hove Albion........

Tranmere v Brighton
Kick-Off 3.00pm at Prenton Park
For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the high number of costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match anaylsis.

Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game.
Tranmere of course host Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon in Coca Cola League One, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on.
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores in Coca-Cola League One as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Today? Yes - we can, and I suggest will, win. The pall of misery that was Barnes' tenure started lifting on Monday, despite the disappointing result. Les is an honest character and will certainly raise the morale, and Chief - a real 100% star!
We have a squad that I reckon if used correctly should have no trouble getting away from the bottom once bad habits are forgotten (eg Barnes tactics).
We know McLaren, Mahon, Goodison, Shuker are far better players than we have seen so far this season - let's get behind them and raise their confidence.
Let's get behind Barnett, Logan - youngsters with bright futures.
Ricketts, Welsh, ITM, Broomes - older heads who again, given confidence, can turn games.
I'm going to shout my b****ocks off to support them today - anyone joining me?
Kitson on the bench,
other results gone really well for us too
Much improved again. In the first half we were sloppy going forward, didn't seem to have much there and kept running into brick walls so to speak. But you've got to start improving from the back and it was nice to go in at half time without conceeding again.
Thought Curran was a lot better than usual, and Gornell was good again. Disapointed in ITM, never really got going and wasn't his usual self but the main thing is those 3 precious points!
Not sure it was a penalty either, thought there lad exagerated it and ran into Martin rather than Martin stopping him! However that's not how the ref saw it so in that sense he was lucky to stay on the pitch, as was Broomes with the handball, and Bakayogo should definitely of been s/o in first half, however he was excellent again.
Can't wait for next week, would take a point away from home obviously!

I still think these are games where we have to pick up points as other teams (despite our improved performance) would have battered us today.
Stayig up is going to be hard but a lot more confidence will be had by all after today!
Well Done Les and the Lads!
Hearing Les afterwards shows that he REALLY feels what it is to be a Rovers fan.
It even got me thinking that perhaps we already have the management team in place?????
But remember:
*the opposition were woeful
*the opposition got a man sent off with 10 minutes to go
*the opposition missed a hatful of chances
*we were at home against one of the worst sides in the division
*the team that beat us last week lost at home 4-0 today
My view is that there has been zero progress and it's a game we would have won under Barnes. I still feel depressed that we tried to experiment with the Barnes regime and then bottled out.
I'm pleased for the points though. Hopefully we can replace the masseuse soon and get someone in long-term.
Onwards and upwards,
However it's important to recognise that the opposition were poor, had a man sent off with 10 minutes to go and still missed numerous chances
Also Stockport lost at home 4-0 today
I'm pleased for the points though and can't wait for the new manager to come in.

I think you have a selective memory. You're opinion is not shared by everyone.

ITV claim that Brighton were on top throughout? debateable, does anybody seriously think that or was I watching a different game??? The BBC article does little to back your claim up however.
We were first to every loose ball, we looked more hungry and generally we outplayed them.
I read articles but ultimately go with my own judgement and they did not batter us like you suggest.
I respect your right to an opinion.
