Tranmere Rovers v Brentford Match Discussion Thread
By Total Tranmere December 5 2009
Throughout the season we will provide you with a platform to discuss each and every Rovers match whether it be the build-up to kick-off or post match analysis so here we bring you the Match Discussion Thread for Saturday afternoon's Coca-Cola League One game at home to Brentord.......
Tranmere v Brentford
Kick-Off 3.00pm at Prenton Park
For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the high number of costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match anaylsis.
Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game.
Tranmere of course at home to Brentford on Saturday afternoon in Coca-Cola League One, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on.
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

i think we can win today id take a 1 0 own goal i hope curran or gornell score as it would do then world of good as we need one of them to score 15 goals this season when is bas back my wife does not like him when we first signed him i laughed he might not score loads off goals never gives up the chase
think H'pool, S'ton, Brighton and Wycome out of the 12 clubs above us the only ones to win like ourselves, excellent and to see H'field hold Leeds at Leeds shows how well we did to hold them at their ground.

i dont think we had to weather any storm in the 1st half yes they past the ball well but they didnt hurt us in the 3rd part of the pitch ash played well his passing was a bit dodgy great work at the free kick made up for curran probably give him man of match just because he scored but everyone was amazing sir les for priminster i know we always noan abouy refs but was shocking at times
The ref today was consistently inconsistent! Some challenges he blew for a foul and then would let worse ones go.
I;m really pleased with today's performance, I though the whole team done well. There was a lot of hunger and determination and the players went in for every tackle.
I think Edds played well, Ash had another great game, the two full backs did well as did Moore, Gornell and Curran. Hopefully this is the start of a bit of consistent form.

Probably our worst performance of the past few weeks but hey! we got the win so who cares.
Back 5 were good, in particular both full-backs were superb. Welsh was good again, as was Edds, and whilst Taylor breaks up the play well and is good positionaly, he panics (or appears to) far to much when he's on the ball, hence the sloppy passing, but apart from that he did well. ITM did ok, as did Curran, but thought Gornell was absolutely superb, fantastic!
Ref was absolutely abysmal. If any footballer performed that poorly, I'd expect him to be disciplined by my club. Will that referee be disciplined for that? No, because it wasn't a Premier League game so it'll get no publicity, an the FA are to far up themselves to go against one of their own employee's who was absolutely disgraceful.
As I said to my mate on the way to the car after the game, the difference in recent weeks has been the absence of Paul McLaren in my opinion.
Gareth Edds and Ash Taylor (despite his shockingly bad passing at times today as Mikey mentions above), have come into the central midfield and really made the difference.
For every pass Taylor may have put wrong today (and there were a few), there was an important ariel battle won or a vital touch in the centre of the park to cover for the defence when needed.
I have to start admitting that maybe some (but not all) of these players may be able to keep us up after all.
I agree with Mikey that it was probably the worst performance for ages (possibly worst under Les??) in the first half but in the end we still, in my opinion, deserved to win.
i though it was a much better performance than the aldershot game, taylor needs to work on his passing but he is good in the air and can tackle well, thought we deserved the win their keeper kept th in it at times.
would agree with comments about the ref truly awful.
Clearly we do have the players to stay up, they just needed a bit of time and the encouragement of the fans.
We now need some stability and we'll be fine, therefore Les should be made manager till the end of the year.
I totally agree that McClaren makes a positive difference.
I thought there was a lot of gritty determination from the lads yesterday and didn't think it was too bad a performance. Given our current position, I'm more interested in getting points on the board at the minute.
I presume MikeH, you are questioning my praise of Moore - I think he worked his socks off yesterday and tracked back excellently and made some decent challenges??
