As Rovers and Charlton prepare to do battle in Coca-Cola League One at The Valley on Saturday afternoon, in a vital game for both sides but for differing reasons, Total Tranmere's Deadly Submarine caught up with Charlton Fan Martin Wells-Gaston to get his views on the upcoming game....
What is Your Name and How Old are You?
My name's Martin Wells-Gaston (otherwise known as cafc_2k on Vital Charlton) and I'm 20 years old.
How Long Have You Supported Your Team and What Made You Choose Them?
I've supported Charlton all my life because they're my local club, I love Charlton and I'm proud to be a Charlton fan, I wouldn't want to support anyone else.
YOUR CLUB
What are Your Views on the Current Manager?
I'm happy with Phil Parkinson, he's doing a good job, he's made some good signings on very little transfer budget and we're competing at the top of the league, after the last couple of seasons we needed some stability and I think he can get us back to the championship.
If you could have one past Player back in his prime who would you have and why?
Personally I'd say Darren Bent, one of our best strikers and pretty much scored for fun in the two years he was with us, other than that I'd have to say Sam Bartram - a top quality keeper and one of the best never to have played for England.
What is your Greatest Memory from supporting your Club?
I think it's got to be the play off final against Sunderland in 1998 at Wembley that got us back to the Premiership, one of the best ever and it pretty much had everything you want in a final whether you're a supporter of either team or a neutral, it was an amazing match.
If you were in charge at your Club as Manager or Chairman what changes would you make?
If I were Charlton manager I'd buy or loan another striker as we definitely need some more firepower up front more than anything and I'd like to see some more defensive cover we could do with another full back or centre back to give more competition for places.
What expectations do your team's fans seem to have for this season?
It's got to be promotion either by automatic promotion or the play offs. It's been a tough couple of seasons for us, I think we need to be aiming to get back to the Championship and with the squad we have we've got a good chance as long as we keep the faith and keep playing the way we have been at the start of the season only with a few less draws!
AWAY DAYS
What are the Best and Worst Away Grounds you've Visited to date and why?
it's got to be the Emirates it's a fantastic stadium although I'd loved to have been to Highbury but never really got the chance. The worst I'd have to say Fratton Park, I like Portsmouth as a club and they're one of my favourites but I'm sure I'm not the only person to say Fratton Park is not the best ground in the world!
Have you visited Prenton Park before and if so, what are your views?
I haven't been to Prenton Park before so I can't really say but from what I've heard from other fans it's a good ground.
LEAGUE ONE
Who do you think will be Promoted/Relegated from League One this Season?
I have to be a bit biased or confident however you take it! I'd like to say us but other than that Leeds and Norwich based on recent form, Colchester have been brilliant this season too, I think that Stockport and Wycombe will be relegated but it's pretty open at both ends of the table and anything can happen.
Where do you think your Team will finish this season?
I think we'll finish at least 5th but there's still a lot of games to be played and I think we can catch up with Norwich and Leeds.
Where do you think Tranmere will finish this season in League One?
I think Tranmere will stay up it's a decent team and they'll definitely give us a game this weekend, it's still pretty open at both ends of the table as long as the players have got the confidence and belief then they can keep the club up.
GENERAL
On past experience, what are your views on Tranmere as a Club?
I haven't had a lot of experience with Tranmere to be honest but I think they're a good club with a good fanbase and are too good to be in League 2 so I hope they manage to avoid relegation.
THE MATCH VS TRANMERE
Who is your Team's Man to Watch this Season and for this game?
Nicky Bailey, he's a good passer, can cross the ball well and has an eye for goal, he's scored 10 this season from midfield and has been one of our best players so far this season.
Your Prediction for the Game Vs Tranmere?
I think it'll be a close game but I'm going to go for 2-1 to Charlton.
