Latest Rovers Fanzine Issue Now on Sale

The latest issue of the Rovers Fanzine ‘Give Us An R’ is now on sale and as ever Total Tranmere is the only Rovers Site to bring you a detailed look at why the Fanzine is once again well worth a read. The usual features are again joined by some new material making it once again worth the £2.00 cost......

With the weather disruption to numerous Rovers matches since before Christmas, it has been hard to remember when the last edition of the Tranmere Rovers Fanzine ‘Give Us An R' came out but we can now bring you a review of the new issue (Issue 59) which went on sale at the Gillingham away game in midweek.

In this issue of the Fanzine there are the usual reports on recent away trips which this month take in the visits to Huddersfield Town for that amazing midweek 3-3 draw as well as the FA Cup replay win at Aldershot, the 3-0 defeat at Southampton and the 0-0 bore draw recently at Oldham Athletic's Boundary Park.

As well as the away day features, there is the usual Anorak Quiz which gives five obscure views of away Grounds visited by Rovers fans and asks you to try and name which Grounds they are (answers in the following issue).

This edition as usual features the regular contributions from the Doctor, The Paddock Man and Total Tranmere's own Deadly Submarine as well as two comical ‘Film Poster' features adverts in which the films ‘Looking for Kenny (Irons)' and ‘Parry Normal Activity' are detailed.

The regular ‘You Don't Have to be Mad - But it Helps' fan interview feature has a Total Tranmere related feel to it in this issue as our very own site administrator and Match Preview writer Matthew Jones takes the hotseat for what is a very interesting read and arguably the best one of the series so far.

The middle page spread of this current issue tells the story of the trip by four Tranmere fans to visit Coventry City's Ricoh Arena for their game against Barnsley on a recent Saturday on which Tranmere saw their Saturday game cancelled due to the adverse weather.

The quartet ended up making the local newspapers in both Coventry and the Liverpool Echo as well as having a chat with two former Rovers players after the game.

The ‘In Black and White' section of the fanzine which looks at Tranmere and often other football related items from the newspapers, this time looks at two recent features in ‘When Saturday Comes' magazine about referees and in particular Tranmere fan Mike Dean and also about Rovers' Viking connections.

The ‘Yesterday's Heroes' section features Dave Martindale in full colour on the inside of the back page to cap another interesting issue of GUAR.

At just £2.00, ‘Give Us An R' is a worthwhile purchase for any avid Rovers' Fan so if you have perhaps thought about buying it before but never got round to it, why not make this issue your first one? 

We can highly recommend it as a publication written by fans for fans and with no connection in its content to the Club itself, giving views that you may not otherwise see in a matchday programme.

It can be bought at all Rovers home matches from Dave who positions himself on the left hand side of the road entrance to the Main Car Park at Prenton Park. He is usually positioned on the bit of waste ground on the opposite side of the entrance to the Mersey Clipper Pub (just under the Board which shows the next few matches that are due to be played at Prenton Park).

Dave is also at almost all Rovers away matches during the season, standing somewhere near the away turnstiles selling the Fanzine so there is plenty of chances to pick up your copy at the Brentford and Bristol Rovers games as well as the upcoming home matches against Leyton Orient, Huddersfield and Southampton so if you've never bought one before, why not give it a try.
