Tranmere Rovers v Leeds Utd Match Discussion
By Deadly Submarine
March 9 2010
Throughout the season we provide you with a platform to discuss each and every Rovers match whether it be the build-up to kick-off or post match analysis so here we bring you the Match Discussion Thread for Tuesday evening's Coca-Cola League One match at home to high-flying Leeds United as Rovers look to continue their recent good form which has seen them climb out of the League's bottom four....

Saturday 6th March - Coca Cola League One
Tranmere v Leeds United
Kick-Off 7.45pm at Prenton Park
For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the high number of costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match anaylsis.

Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game.
Tranmere of course are at home to high-flying Leeds United in Coca-Cola League One on Tuesday evening in what is another vital game for Rovers in League One, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on.
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

We didn'd do that though, we rolled over and made some comical errors. Terrible defedning for the first goal, didn't have a clear view of the penalty so can't really comment. What on earth Mclaren was doing for their third I don't know turning into trouble then losing the ball. As for the fourth, my sunday league team would have defended what was just a hoof forward better.
I thought Broomes was a disgrace, summed up by even their fans singing about how bad he was, O'Neil looked shaky as well. Now, I must be the only one because most of our fans seem to love him, But I just don't rate Edds at all. For me he just runs around like a passenger, his distributuion is awful and tonight he was terrible.
Don't get me wrong, he works his socks off but he just isn't good enough in my opinion, and for me Mahon should start instead of him, he showed more creativity in 10 minutes then edds did all game. some of my mates who are neutrals and were there couldn't understand why Mahon did not play instead of edds.
It summed it up for me when I saw a few friends after the game who are leeds fans and said, "how the hell did you beat Southampton". I am very annoyed at out performance tonight, we showed leeds far too much respect and got punished. I just hope this is a one off.

Leeds were quality and their third goal was absolutely superb. I don't feel we played anywhere near our best but I wouldn't say we rolled over either.
For me the hoof tactics from the start were not great but at the same time do you go out and try to play football against Leeds? I'm not sure that would have worked either.
Leeds themselves did hoof it a lot but not as much as we did. I thought Mahon did OK when he came on and his effort from long range was a cracker whilst Savage looked a menace for about (8??) minutes and then faded completely proving he is still not yet quite there.
Man of the Match for me was John Welsh who had a great game and I even thought at times McLaren looked OK although did lose the ball for the thirds goal in midfield.
At the end of the day I expected one point at best this week and we got three so I'm far from downhearted.
mclaren was shocking again gave away the penalty and gave the ball away for the third goal as well. As good as leeds are we made them look even better, not one of our defenders played well.
Would say welsh mom the best of a very poor team
I was glad when Sordell was taken off at half time, I can't remember him challenging for one header all night and his failure to do so resulted in the 3rd goal for Leeds.
Having said that, they are a good side and will probably get promoted this year, so it's a case of regrouping and getting something on Saturday at Bristol.
Best of luck for rest of season

i appreciate your good wishes, it is difficult to wish Leeds well though as many of your fans have a terrible attitude and it rubs off badly on your team, but i wish you personally best wishes in everything you do. You seem a decent bloke
(just to explain my bad feelings toward your club its mainly down to our game at your place end of last season (forgetting the gobshite stewards) Bas Savage was playing his heart out in our push toward the play offs, he picked up an injury at Elland Road and was stretchered off. He'd not put a bad tackle in, not scored not done anything thing wrong to your lot.. and was jeered and boo'd as the stretcher was carried around the perimeter of the pitch and im not talking by a handful of fans here. he only came of the bench last week for his first taste of football since back then!!

Cannot explain/excuse some fans attitudes. Was a season ticket holder when I lived in London but only get over 2-4 times a season now.Always amazes me some people attitudes, pure hate, sometimes turning on their own players, short memories and selective memories at that.Bad attitudes/sad lives.I know I'd give out to my kids for doing it.
Anyway, glad Baz is back and as I said, best wishes for the rest of the season
