Weather Report

A wet and dismal night on the Wirral matched the game that went with it as Rovers and Hartlepool served up a stinker although it wasn't cold for once at an evening game.

Crowd

5,409 fans were at the game with barely 100 away fans making the trip from the North East for this one.  Many Rovers fans it seemed prefered to stay at home and watch Sport Relief and they were spot on in their judgement.

 Referee Watch

Karl Evans (Lancashire) - Not a lot for the referee to have to judge in this game and therefore another quiet game for the man in the middle.

Best Moment

This category seems harder to write every week but I would say Craig Curran's low shot in the second half that just skimmed the edge of the post was about the highlight from a Rovers perspective.  Other than that the half-time and full-time whistles were the best moments.

Worst Moment

This category becomes easier to write every week although as Rovers didn't concede or score it's diffcult to choose a worst moment.  The moment Goodison nearly cost Tranmere the game with a glaring error was probably the worst.

Tranmere Man of the Match

Shaleum Logan - On a day when Rovers as a team and as individuals were beyond poor, Shay Logan was the best of a bad bunch followed by Daniels who made a great second half save after Goodison's mistake.

 Connections

Ian Thomas-Moore used to play for Hartlepool but missed this game through injury.

Tranmere Fans

There was a brief moment of noise just into the second half but aside from that the atmosphere reflected the game throughout the 90 minutes.

Hartlepool United Fans

Credit to those fans who did make the trip to Prenton Park especially given their recent away record but they never really made themselves heard in the game.

Summary

A point is better than nothing but not good enough against another struggling team.  With hard games coming up over Easter, a win in this was vital to our hopes of staying up.

Entertainment Value

Nothing to get excited about and two poor teams played almost to Sunday League standard.  My mate left just before half-time for another engagement which clashed with the game and in my opinion he chose right!
